Oil consumption
So, I put oil in my 09 997.2s to about 1.5 quartz low about 300 miles ago. My car has 38k miles. the only items that the computer says is I have o2 sensors that need replacing in banks 1 and 2. No other faults detected. So why this? No oil on the ground and no indication of smoke. Thanks in advance.

I think you need to add some oil. If you left out 1.5 quarts of oil, then your oil level is going to show very low on the gauge.
I believe that each "hash" mark on the oil gauge is 0.4 liters. There are three marks, so 1.2 liters is the range of the gauge.
If you left out 1.5 quarts, you level is not going to show on the gauge.
Some of you 997 tech experts check my logic...I have been know to have "senior moments".

Also looks like you have a tire pressure, and or sensor problem.

Maybe the oil use has taken out your o2 sensors earlier than normal. I have had my 09 c2S about a year and a half and dont drive it much (2000 mi in 18 mo) but I have noticed that it needs oil added more often than I like to see. Do you drive a lot of short trips?

Confused as well. Did you fill it and now 300 miles is low? It sounded in your first post like you changed it and left out 1.5 quarts.
iif you were full and it burned that much in 300 miles, it's alarming but there could be a reason. It's possible that your oil had built up condensation and reflected that in the full reading. Then you do a good hot drive which burns off the water and the level is now showing low.
Put oil in it and drive and keep track of usage.

I think what he is saying is he had filled oil level to the top line on the gauge. Then, within 300 miles the oil level dropped and no longer registered on the gauge, which would indicate he lost at least 1.2 liters. Is that correct?
If so, "Houston we have a problem"!

Yes that's what I'm saying. The oil dropped down from the top arrow to where it is in the picture. I'm going to change oil. Fill to spec change o2 sensors while I'm at it and run the car again. Thanks everyone!!

The theory I have heard is that every time you shut down the engine a small amount of oil gathers in and around the oil separator and is expelled when you fire up the engine next time. If you drive 10 miles and shut down you will deposit and burn off 10x the volume of someone that drives 100 miles and shuts down. Dont know any facts just passing along more semi-believable bs

I am surprised no one has mentioned AOS. Noticed any smoke? If that much is being burned there should be plenty of smoke.

No smoke. No oil on ground. I would believe a defective sender. But, wouldn't a fault occur? As afore mentioned the only thing that. Ones up on the computer are those two forward o2 sensors. Only 38 k on this car.

Time to drain and measure.

same problem, when I first bought my car. Talk with your dealer. You will find these 3.8 burn alot of oil. I think the service bulletin says 1.5 L per 1000 mi. something like that .
Read your owners manual. add oil by the instructions and watch the gauge. when you get near the top , add small amounts untill you 'trip' the high mark. then you know you still have room for more oil, but youre not over full, which is prohibited
