Poll: which wheels?
Hi folks
My car needs new tires and while I am doing that I thought about changing wheels as well.
Trying to do a poll between the two options, hopefully won't mess this up
Car is a 997.1 C4S in Atlas
Current wheels (option 1) are Atlas painted lobster claws from the factory:
Potential wheels (option 2) are OEM turbo wheels in silver (borrowing a picture of another member's car, hope that's cool):

I don't like dark wheels so voted for the turbos. Better yet would be to buy the polished Champions RS171s I have for sale in the Marketplace and run some spacers on the rear. They'll stronger and lighter than either option here and will look great with atlas grey.

+1 on the unique lobsters. Not a huge fan of the Turbo wheels anymore.

Some other good options were posted in this ongoing thread:

Okay option 3 then- us my NB fitment 18" HREs from my GT3 (spares), add spacers as appropriate and drop the car .5" all around
Imagine it 1/2" lower with a wider stance from spacers

Today I tried out my own spare HREs and they look good, am asking HRE for recommended spacer sizes

Also, there's nothing wrong with using spacers to move a wheel out to widen the track or for looks - guys run 7mm front & 15mm rear spacers all the time, as well as some larger ones. When you get above 15mm the H&R DRM style should be used where the spacer bolts to the hub with the special included bolts and the wheel bolts to the threaded spacer, in order to not have a lug bolt that is that long.

I dislike em both, lobsters much worse than Turbo though.
Best 997 wheel is Carrera Sports wheels that look amazing on Silver, Gray and Black cars.

I generally dislike lobster forks, but in your case, the painted spokes with lighter rim looks really good.
On the flip side, the turbos are my favorite 997 wheel.
I'd love to give you a definitive opinion but in your case, I think it will look good either way you go.
I'm not sure what the climate is like where you live, but you could do what I did. I had Carrera IVs, and boght a set of Carrera Classics that I liked. I had them both refinished and found that I liked both sets of wheels, so I designated one set to be my summer wheels (sticky summer rubber) and one to be my winter wheels (high performance all-season rubber).
No need to choose--you can run either set whenever you want.
