Anyone else besides me having trouble popping off the old cable ends from the trany? I swear I'm no nimrod. I am using two flathead screw drives and all the might I can muster.

Never mind...I got 'em. For a spell there, I thought I might have to surrender my he-man Porsche-owner card.

Now I know what people mean by "rifle bolt action" when describing the feel of a shifter. I've not had the car on the road since installing these today (snow and salt here today), but shifting the transmission through all the gears with the car just sitting there...my reaction was "wow", I was not expecting the degree to which this product impacted the feel of the shifter, for the good I must add. A very well designed and constructed item. Might seem like a lot of money for something this small, but I imagine there is a lot of R&D that must be recovered in order to bring a product like this to market. Hat's off to FF and others who continue to bring us these type of products.

A couple hours, give or take. Most of that was trying to get the old ends pried off, plus I tend to work slow and methodically.

The cover should be rotated on the forward most cable.

(The reason for this is that on some early 997 models, that cover would interfere with the mounting bracket of the other cable when trying to shift into gears 2, 4, 6.)

Thanks for the quick respond FF, I edited the picture with "A" & "B" labels on the cable ends. So just to make sure I am clear, it is cable end "B" that needs the top cover rotated, right ?

Hi, I've only just seen your post about 996 cable ends. I like the idea of the replacement ends, did you ever get an answer back? Also I'd be interested to know how you wire tied the ends as mine has just popped off and left me stuck in reverse. Thanks

So I have a spare set of cables laying around in my garage. My question is are the Function First ends something I should preemptively put onto the cables now? The obvious answer seems to be, hell yes. How self explanatory will this be without detailed instructions?

It's an easy job. But the Function first website has instructions... no need for a lengthy write up.
