Default Change Your Own Oil? Here's a deal for you....

Since the 997 (esp .2) is one of the easier cars to change the oil, I assume many people here do. Came across this deal which is definitely worth sharing.....

Mobile 1 is running a rebate (https://apfco.com/secure/R8235W/) special for $12 back on a 5qt jug of oil, the rebate also works for a quantity of two.

Walmart sells the 5qt jugs of 0W40 for $22.88 each. If you buy two, they will also ship for free, and if you opt for slower (not 2 day) shipping they'll knock off a few extra bucks.

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Mobil-1-0...ype=10&veh=aff

After the rebate you're looking at about $21 all in for 10qt of oil, that's about as good as I've seen, enjoy!

I heard the new Mobil 1 0W40 is not synthetic as they used to be. Is that true?

The experts will be along shortly to correct me, but here's my understanding.

M1 0W-40 is still synthetic, but the formulation changed and it is now made using a GTL (Gas to Liquid) process. It still carries Porsche's A40 certification, but no longer meets BMW LL04 requirements. This may be more a reflection of BMWs evolving requirements than of any deficiency or change in the oil.

I've switched to Motul for the 911, mainly because I scored the Amazon deal last year. And I now use Castrol Edge for my wife's BMW E46.

Checked the fine print under Terms and Conditions. There's a list of stores eligible, and Walmart is not included. Oh well.

FYI I purchased Mobil 1 at Walmart and received the rebate. In fact you can scan your receipt and submit online to receive rebate.

Sounds fine to me. Wally World is still the cheapest around. Thanks for the real world update.

Check again. The text says "Some participating retailers include". This does not exclude Wallyworld. In the past Wallyworld and Costco purchases were valid for the rebate. This time too.

Will they give the rebate to Canadians ?
if the oil is purchased and shipped to the USA ?

"Print your name, address (no P.O. boxes), city, state, zip code, daytime phone number (area code included)"
No P.O. Boxes.

Confirmed on my side also - rebate received today.
I've used their promotions several times in the past few years. No issues.

Update:

Bought the 5qt jug from Amazon and I was rejected. In the past I've purchased from Walmart with no issues.

Thank you for participating in the 2017 Spring Mobil Retail Rebate Offer Program. Unfortunately, we are unable to process your request for the following reason(s):

This offer requires the products to be purchased at specific retail stores.

NOTE: This email was automatically generated. Please do not reply to this email address
.

I didn't read this part:
Limited to purchases made at participating retailers; excludes online purchases made at Amazon.com.

Can you purchase online at Walmart.com and receive the rebate? Or do you have to buy in-store?
