Default Radio

Hello everyone, I have a 2004 TT with a OEM radio. All works well and good, except when I take the key out, I can turn radio on and stays on for ever unless I turn it off. On my 2006 Cayenne if I do the same the radio will work for few minutes and then will turn off by itself to save the battery. Has anyone notice this situation and if it is normal. Thank you.

I replaced mine with hard ones from Radio Shack, perfect fit, I think they were $4.50 for 4.

Regrettably RS is no more - but I'm sure a google search will find similar ones

I'm sure they work great, but they do make your head unit look like a cheap toaster oven :-)

I'm actually with him on this one. Cool work, but it just doesn't look OEM.

I bought some metal ***** on ebay (2 or 3 different types) that I used in another application (for commercial coffee grinders, actually), which looked pretty decent. They all came out of (you guessed it) China. None of them cost even $10 for sets of 4, delivered, and they were machined metal *****.

More seriously, since you obviously aren't hung up on having your head unit look stock, why not just toss the old and archaic thing and put in a modern stereo that can do what modern stereos do, such as connect to your cell phone for hands free usage, and play MP3s off of a thumb drive or in some cases an SD card?

That solves the **** problem, plus modernizes the interior of your car substantially.

Just a thought.
