The - "What do you think of this deal/car thread"
#46
Yup, agree totally with these. I don't think lack of any of these would be deal breakers on an otherwise great car but these are all definitely things that I "wouldn't mind having". Personally I wasn't looking for many options at all and I preferred a single din stock radio over nav (only had to be stick, coupe, 1-2 owner, full records, for me). I really wanted Sport Seats and silver gauges (love both of these and my factory painted/color matched seat backs I really adore!)...my car has those plus the stainless turbo door sills, aluminum shifter & ebrake.
Like others have said...these cars don't really need any specific options but these particular ones are pretty desirable. You need to decide which ones you absolutely want and go from there.

without a doubt the more expensive the option from the factory, you would have to think the less it was optioned. You'd then think that because it was optioned less frequently due to extra cost, it makes it less common and POSSIBLY more sought after or desirable for some.
To my knowledge the most expensive 996 options were the:
X50 turbo package ( ~18,000.00 option)
Factory Aerokit ( ~ 7,000.00 option)
PCCB's: Cost? - maybe not. rotor replacement can be a negative for some. (yes I know many convert to steel)
finding a car with those options certainly can help used values.

Painted center console is a good one, too.

Yep, and like gophaster said, the painted seat backs. Forgot that one.
I would agree with bugeyemilo on the aerokit, although I think there might be a significant percentage (maybe 20% or more) who wouldn't want the aerokit.
Obviously PCCBs are a nice option, but I think many people (myself included) might worry so much about the cost of replacing a damaged rotor that the additional braking prowess is overshadowed.

My "comfort" seats have the crests, lumbar support, and heating, so I plan to keep them. The lumbar is actually really awesome.

Personally, there isn't a single option on a 996TT (or lack of) that is a deal-breaker for me. Except of course manual transmission and coupe. Well, also the the interior not in some horrific color...
I'd take a minty zero option car in a nanosecond over a loaded car that looks worn. Then color. Then mileage. Then documentation. Then options (yes, last).

I know the sunroof delete is desirable, but personally I like having a sunroof. I realize that it hurts my times on the way to Cars and Coffee, but doggone it, I just like having a sunroof.

Agreed, I definitely would like a sunroof. If I'm giving up on the thought of a convertible, I definitely want to at least get some sun on my slowly balding head.

I ordered my 996 Turbo with the sunroof delete option because I needed the headroom, and because I like the looks of the roof without the sunroof cutout.
When I need the open air experience, I drive my convertible.
