That's good, that's what you want, rather than rods or valves and what not.

overall today was a good day...went over to my indy to start the diagnostic work and once on the lift and running we isolated the noise to the drivers side. Due to the straight pipes it is really hard to try and diagnose by sound since everything is amplified 1000x....because of this he thought up a simple yet genius idea of cutting some cats off an old exhaust he had and putting them up against my straight pipes to be able to hear through the resonance...once this was done we could clearly hear a misfire, it was obvious even to myself who doesn't qualify as a mechanic....the exhaust leak type noise that we all heard here was gone and it was a simple miss....the next part of the puzzle was finiding the misfire.
What is interesting is that my durametric never picked up a misfire over the last few months but the snap on tool did...I am guessing this is because I have a battery kill switch and turn it off every night....he had the car for 3 days and didn't do this and had started and moved the car a few times...regardless it pointed us to cylinder 2....out came coils and plugs and the #2 plug had a bend on one of the electrode's (culprit found) - to be safe we ran a compression test and that cylinder was strong.
Overall feel like a lucky man today and excited to get back on the track....moral of the story if you have a loud exhaust or none, try and quiet it down before diagnosing by ear.

^^ I think the original issue sounds like you have it nailed down, although I now hear the occasional screeching sound coming from the rear of the car. You might want to get that checked out.

Great news...we all know these motors don't break, knew it was exhaust or something minor all along
