Default Oil Temp Sensor Location

Hey all,

I've searched high and low and have even looked at parts diagrams (its confusing on this part). I am searching for the location of the oil temp sensor. I just finished a long project of pinning my coolant lines, replacing clutch etc and when I got it all back together, I'm getting a code for it so I'm thinking I didn't get it plugged in all the way or it failed by coincidence. I'm hoping its easy to get to. I read something that its part of the oil level sender which reads fine. The pictures of the part I've found show it looking different. Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

Just changed this. Take off y pipe and throttle body and drop motor. You don't have to drop but it makes it easier. I didn't. I had to shave one side of a crescent wrench to fit around the sensor as it's directly against the oil filter housing and angled backwards. A little of a pain but not really. Good luck.

Also worth noting that it may not even be bad. Just take the plug off and spray it with electric cleaner. It will prob start working.

Thanks for the replies as usual guys, I'll pop the connector off and clean before I replace. Its in a very inconvenient location so hopefully a clean will fix it. Something else I noticed in that picture above the harness has two wires - one pink and one green it appears. My connector only has one wire and its blue. I'm wondering if I got some plugs backwards putting the engine back together. Hope not!

Strange, the oil temp wires one should be green and red and the other brown and pink…. I don't remember any items in the engine compartment that got only one wire except the a/c pump… I was looking at the wiring diagrams for the engine and found one blue only wire and it goes to the alternator….

Thank you for posting this I think you solved my problem! I believe I reversed the two plugs you mention - I've got the single blue wire plug plugged into the oil temp sensor and I'm assuming the other one plugged into the alternator. This would explain my battery/generator warning light which I thought was a different issue. I looked at the pictures of the engine I took when I had it torn apart and it looks like the plugs are the same. Again, thanks...I'll swap these connectors and see if that resolves the issue.

Great! I hope this will be your fix! Good luck.
