Slippery Slope...

Nice. I find the Numeric to always have a tiny bit of play in the handle just due to the machining. Dan used to make the handle with a brass nub which is now steel I believe. A little of a better fit but the tolerances still allow a tiny, maybe 1mm of side to side movement which I guess is okay. I had gone back and forth with him re: that issue. Car looks like it's coming along nicely.

Well - moving on from this awesome car its going to a good home.
Was debating on scratching a long Ferrari itch but decided against it. Will be taking care of my 1977 wide body project and might go all in on that one (motor etc) and find a new track project in the Spring. Plan on being back in the platform either street or track at some point but I am guessing at least a year from now as life is catching up to me. Will periodically check in over here and offer some advice where I can. Happy holidays everyone!

This was my favorite build on Rennlist. I can't believe I ended up getting it. jferrante is a great Rennlister and went way beyond what I would have expected to make sure this was a smooth transaction.
I will take good car of her and keep the thread updated. The suspension and drivetrain are near perfection. She could still stand to shed a few pounds but for now I'm just going to get some track days in as is and enjoy.

Well warm weather is finally hear and it's time to break this bad boy out for my first track day in it at MSR Cresson Saturday. First thing is to get it corner balanced and aligned. Jferrante raises the front an inch for transport which worked very well.
The scales have it at around 3,000 lbs dry if I estimate fuel weight. That's only 500lbs more than the C2 I ran last year. Hopefully the extra ~260hp will make up for the weight difference until I can shed a few lbs from it.

Setup went decent last night. After getting the heights and the corner weights adjusted, I realized I that the tires were rubbing. So I had to make some changes and didn't have time to go back and redo the weights. I ended up removing the front wheel well liners and adjusting the caster. The adjustable caster arms for the front are SO nice for adjusting out rubbing issues.
I took the car for a test run down the county roads before loading it this evening to make sure everything felt right. The front end was searching for a line which is to be expected with 1.5mm total toe out in the front. But everything felt right in the suspension.
But the throttle is a different story. This car still scares the hell out of me. I will be taking it easy until I get acclimated enough that my hands can stay ahead of the rear end. Hopefully that will be after a day or two but we will see. Gaining the confidence to lay this much power down early is going to take some adjustment.

the power is bananas but you will learn quick that with a hot set of tires you can roll into it quickly through turns, no need to mash throttle as you know from racing but especially here. 2nd gear I rarely used, 3rd allows the torque to build and keeps the car under control.
I also adjusted the wastegate actuators so the boosts builds appropriately. You will figure it out quick.
On the street it's a scary beast with debris on the road etc

Crazy day at the track yesterday. There was standing water all day at the end of a straight going into an uphill off camber turn. It was sunny enough that the track beyond it would dry between sessions and then cars would track water back out of it and the conditions would worsen as the session progressed. There must have been 50 spins, including one of my own. The Cadillac V teams chief engineer was out there along with 20 members of the V-club and their cars. One of them, in the novice group, spun out and went off over the rumble strips. No damage to the car but all of the airbags deployed. Brand new with dealer tags. I felt bad for the guy.
But this car was insane. It turns and feel like my C2 did but the amount of power it has is freakish. Initially I was scared of it, and rightfully so. But after the first spin I was determined to keep the rear end behind me where it belongs. Then I caught it a few times and gained some confidence in the car and began to focus on the power. Initially it was really annoying as I couldn't figure out how to lay it down smoothly. But finally in the last session it all started to come together and I got a small glimpse of what this car may be capable of.
