I also avoid parking anywhere near a dumpster, even if it looks like a protected spot. Low man on the totem pole taking out the trash, not exactly the person you want looking out for your car. Not to mention if there is a pickup and those gates swing open more than 180 degrees...
I'm already paranoid about getting a door ding on this car. You guys are making it worse!
Now you know why I usually take my 15 year old pick-up to the grocery store. But I'm sure I'm not the only one in this crowd that purposely seeks out the "good" parking space whenever possible, rather than the most convenient parking space. Most of the cars in this thread look incredible, despite the years and miles accumulated.
Up here, in the prairie provinces, you are not allowed to back in cities/towns/hotels as the running vehicles in the cold may poison folks nearby, in rooms and businesses.
However, the moment you go to any oil field, upgrader or any other facility, you have to back in...
I'm split on the topic - it is much easier for me to back in something large (truck) into a tight space than drive in forwards, yet (again, up here) all the concrete curbs seem to be at the exact perfect height to destroy front lips and/or body work.

I just make sure I stop at least a foot short of curbs.
Why is he a "Bastard"??
Because he caught you breaking the law??
No, because he was hiding, backed in between two cars and he saw me before I saw him. So, yeah, shame on me.
And, I was "allegedly" speeding. But that's why I hired legal council to handle it. They have about a 50% success rate with my cites, so it's worth the gamble.
All in good fun, BigSwoll
Don't take it literally, but that sneaky motor does look like Robocop in that photo.
Btw: Have you ever either intentionally or 'accidentally' (badge open on the seat or...) let it be known that you're an active LEO when you've been pulled over? You don't have to answer, I have good buddies that are cops I'm not anti-law enforcement, just anti-citation when it comes to me
