I really like the throttle response of higher power non-FI engines (especially V8s), as long as the engine is wrapped in something made in Europe.

Love it. Original owner? It's ungodly hard to find a sunroof delete on the market.

Out of the 11 cars I currently own, all of them between 400 and 700 hp and all used as commuters, the x50 is definately gets the turbo lag no fun award.
How dare somebody says something detrimental to your beloved car!
my car does things as optimally for a street car as these can, I would say. but i'll go ya one better! you can disparage ME personally and I wont give a sh*t lol. let alone what anyone ever says about my car

it doesn't matter! this is cyberland. not real world. just don't kick sand in my face when i'm tanning in Malibu lol

btw.. I no longer have an x50 lol. I have a 16/24

hey dock! i'll trade you turbo envy for sunroof delete envy!! whaddya say?

Yes, original owner. I spec'd the car in October 2001 after being on the waiting list for about eight months. The car was built in December and delivered in early January 2002.

I have no "turbo envy". I had the opportunity to order the X50 option when I spec'd my car, but elected not to.

Who needs fast spool in town anyway? It´s not a race, it´s in town, you´re not supposed to drive any faster then 25-30 mph anyway. Why is the lag a problem here? Better yet, buy a Telsa, king in Town!

I´ve done enough time in a regular Turbo and now own a X50. A stock k16 Turbo ain´t got **** on my former car, M5 E60 which was tuned, the X50 all stock is AS fast as the M5. Lag...yeah, for grandpa sitting at 1000 rpm.

I'm not protesting, I'm discussing; this is call a "Discussion Forum" for a reason. The fact that you agree that k24s lag more than k16s, and the fact that you have 16/24 turbos (which attack the lag issues associated with k24s) only supports what I have been posting.

If someone likes the driving experience of k24s, then good for them. But for someone looking for a Turbo who hasn't driven both configurations (or hasn't applied previous knowledge) to think that the driving experience is the same between the two turbos, is an act of being a bit uninformed.

No, I didn't miss seeing X50 on the options list. I just clearly knew what I wanted (and why I wanted it).

Someone interested in the driving flexibility faster spooling offers.

Have you driven much here in the U.S.; maybe spent some time driving in a metropolitan area like Atlanta?

You make it sound like it´s a totally different car, it isnt and I´ve had enough time in both stock and tuned Turbos. K16´s spool faster, nothing strange about it but giving so much more flexibility? No, not in my opinion! I don´t see GT2 guys wishing they had k16´s either.

I have a torque monster home, X5 40d and it hauls *** around town but the X50 gets me everywhere just as good, even though I´m used to the torque in the bimmer.

I´ve never been in Atlanta but have been in other big citys around the world.

That's the point. The fact that the k16s have less lag than the k24s affects how the "driving experience" is delivered.

I have.

That's probably why you made your comment about the 25-30 mph speeds. Those kind of steady/top speeds around the Atlanta area are rare. Around here, good throttle response is something you can use every day as quick accelerations ("spurts") for start speeds between 0 and 60-70 mph allows great flexibility. Driving in Atlanta is not at all like driving in any large European city.

Okay, I will find a way to drive an X50. But again, do the 16/24 hybrids solve the issue of a quicker spool up with no lag while also providing the upper end pull of a K24? If so, the choice is obvious.

Yeah, maybe I should just buy a Tesla. He says it won't be long before it will be illegal to drive a car anyway.

only an idiot wouldn't know they were "different" dock. hence the "difference" LOL. how they were different might require a bit more info to have an understanding of them. but knowing they were different? all one would need to "know" was the option existed.

no dock. you didn't "know" you didn't want them. you merely "surmised, guessed, assumed" or some combination of the foregoing. you couldn't have driven an x50 turbo prior to having yours delivered as they weren't yet widely available or on the lot yet. so you "guessed" you "didn't want them" LOL

I enjoy semantical exercises. keeps me sharp. how 'bout you?
