Default Just ordered a Turbo-Cab X50!

Hi All,
I'm new to this site, although not new to Porsche. I used to have a 993 Turbo a few years ago. I just ordered a new Turbo cab with the X50 option, ceramic brakes and I hope the Aerokit. Not yet sure if it's available. Also not sure of color choices, but since it won't come til March, I have time to contemplate.
This is a highly entertaining and informative site and I've read most of the threads available. Looking forward to being here.

David,

I thought the X50 package was not available on the turbo cab.

Are you aware the X50 option which costs $18,000 adds no value to the car on resale? It will be priced no different than a TT Cab. without that option.

That is not true at all!!!! I belive that an X 50 car does have a higher value used than a non X50. While it will not be 18,000 it may be 5 to 10 thousand dollars. I have seen cars with the X50 package bring much more in resale.

P.S. I would never order the X 50 package, I would use the money for aftermarket mods. But I understand why people do order it.

Nick,
Why does that matter? Do you buy your cars for you to enjoy, or for the next owner?

Greg I do not believe I can enjoy a car if I knew paying an additional $18,000 would bring little or nothing in return. It would be like paying $18000 for a very special paint job which completely fades in two or three years. It is a question of value, financial responsibility and peace of mind.

Different strokes......

I thought he should at least be aware of it.

Dealers are asking more on the retail side becuase of the X50 package but, on the wholesale end it is only worth $3-5k more depending on the deal. A friend of mine was told the X50 package is worth less than 25% of the option price he paid on trade-in value so he ultimately kept his car. Anyway, I guess it doesn't really matter, to each his own.

$8k Is this the typical Porsche price gouge for popular options or is it really worth $8k do you think? I wonder if you bought the ceramic brakes aftermarket if they would be 1/2 price.

Aftermarket the PCCB would cost upwards of 12K!! This is one option where it is really better to get it from Porsche as they give you a huge credit for the big reds...

Wow, that is a miracle that Porsche is actually cheaper on something. Thanks for info.

I've actually changed my order to delete the X50 kit and keep the ceramic brakes. At some point it will be off to Evo or Imagine for tweaking. It isn't known yet whether the Aerokit will be offered.
