Oh no? Red fluid on ground, is this coolant pipe time?
Drove today for about 80 miles, came back, and found fluid under engine.
Also found that the car was making a clicking/knocking noise occasionally, when sitting at idle, which was remedied by pressing the clutch in.
So I thought there might be a transmission issue (which indeed there may also be), but I am assuming this leak (see photos) is the coolant ?? Is this a coolant pipe thing? Expansion tank in this car looks to be replaced.
Should this car not be driven, even to shop?
Any help of thoughts on what you see would be most appreciated.

To confirm your thoughts.. Yes, it is coolant. However, from your second picture, the leak might be coming from your waterpump. However, you have 3 coolant fittings that can fail that are mounted above the waterpump area.
Check your coolant level. How far is the service shop? Minutes or hours away..

It is right at the minimum allowable mark.
Shop is 9 miles away (dealer, and closest to me).
You are correct, it is leaking from above, however that black seal (from where it is dripping) looks to be leaking as well although that might just be how it looks.
Thanks very much for your response.

I would [B]not[B] go to a dealer for this repair
time to do a bunch of things since the motor needs to come out

Thanks.
I have read it, I am wondering about drive-ability and if this looks like a coolant pipe leak.
I guess the engine has to come out regardless. Ouch.

if you are able to loosen the serpentine belt ( requires removing the airbox) check for play in the WP pulley.

what's the "going rate" to drop motor? Ive had a good relationship with our local dealer's service shop, but there are also alternatives (At Speed Motors, etc.) in and around Annapolis

The cost in the northeast USA to have the engine pulled and the coolant pipes wielded is around $4500-$5000.
Please report your pipe failure to the NHTSA here. Thanks.

Just wanted to merge this other thread..

The first picture shows the culprit. The fitting will eventually fail and pop out.
