Headers should not come off to do this job. the second time I went it it took me maybe 3 hours. it goes fast when you know the steps and have the tools.

Yes, I think that it's a better option to remove the bumper and IC's vs removing the headers and bending the coil packs to fit. I have seen heat shields dented and bulged out from mechanics that try to force them in. Take the bumper cover off, or get a larger block of wood to make it fit (smile)..
