Default SpeedTech 2.75" X-Pipe Video

We had some fun this week! Built a 2.75" X-Pipe to video after several requests for a 2.75" X-Pipe sound clip.

Now for the fun part - Here it is on a local air strip - our new 3600' test track venue. No more risking it on the street, we can go here and test run whenever we want! I even took my mother-in-law out for a 1/4 mile pass :-)

Also, this demo 2.75" X-Pipe is now available (at a discount) as a used demo system -either catted or catless - PM or email for more information...

It's hard to tel in the video, but it doesn't seem all that loud as compared to the other Speedtechs. Perhaps is just my speakers?

Sounds awesome! John, what is the fundamental difference between this X-pipe and the 2.5 X-cellerator exhaust I have on my car? Both are an X or crossover design, no? Is it just the size, 2.5 vs. 2.75"?

Ok and is the 2.75in best of both world or worst of both world? I mean is it relatively quiet like the 2.5 but gives more power?

Or loud as the 3.0 but doesn't give as much power?

I will do my best to explain the sound of this X-Pipe...

drh, This system is much louder than the 2.5 quiet system - not similar in volume level at all. It is closer to the 3.0, but again, a little louder and a little higher pitched.

Hi Ben, Thanks! There is a major difference in both sound level and design. They are both "X" or crossflow systems, so they both exhibit a fantastic exotic car type sound. The 2.5 and 3.0 X-cellerator Exhaust Systems (which you purchased a 2.5) feature an "internal" X design confined within a muffler, the internal X is made with perforated pipe, has stainless steel wool muffler packing and all is contained within the stainless steel muffler cannister.

The X-Pipe is just that - a solid pipe (no perforations, no muffler, no packing) designed in the exact same manner as the internal "X", except it is not internal, it is open or exposed. It uses the same tips, same mid-pipes & same cats as the X-cellerator systems - it is just the center section that is a solid "X". One advantage that current SpeedTech owners have is that anyone with an X-cellerator muffler system can purchase just the "X-Pipe" and swap it in or out as desired and change the character of their exhaust for special events, track days, rallys, etc.

The short answer to your question is "yes the size is different, but so is the design". I will post a picture of each style below so you can clearly see the differences:

darth, the 2.75 X-Pipe is much louder than the 2.5 quiet X-cellerator muffler system - it is for someone that wants a very aggressive sounding system. Not only is it larger diameter than the 2.5, which makes it louder, but it has no mufflers either, which further increases the sound level. It is not even close to our 2.5 in any respect. It is closer to the 3.0, but even louder due to no mufflers.

It all makes sense.
Thanks for the explanation.
