Water Pump

Bringing this thread back to life...
I see on a couple of the DIY's that people remove the rear bumper and also remove the exhaust to get at the water pump in our cars. Is this really necessary or can I just drop the engine a few inches to get at everything?

I'm completely stuck on one last bolt to take the exhaust out. The top right cat converter bolt... can't get it. I have high flow cats and there's just barely enough room to get a wrench on there...
I think I'm going to have to take the exhaust manifold off and lower the turbo an inch or two to get at it. Fun.

I got it off... luckily my Cargraphic exhaust splits in two and has another joint just after the cats, so I just took it all apart and now I have access to everything. I'll get the rest done in the coming days... time for some booze.
I'll bet the farm I have a bolt leftover when all this is done though lol.

Wrapped it up tonight. Not a terrible job. I had 6 hours into it and that was with 1.5 hours farting around with trying to get the last bolt of the exhaust off and piecing it all back together on assembly. The old water pump bearing was shot... luckily no pieces of the impeller broke off.
Had a scare when after start up I smelled a burning belt-like smell... realized it was just the wd40 burning off after 30 minutes of probing. I'm dumb.
