Default Clutch Squeak

Here's what happens. At mid RPM's I can hear and feel in the clutch pedal a vibration and an audible squeak. More RPM's and it goes away. Depress the clutch pedal and it stops. Here is a video. You can hear it first at :35 in the video below. It really gets going at :50! The transmission was rebuilt less than 10K miles. I assumed a new clutch was installed at that time?!

Couple of things are going on I think.

The pulsing in the pedal reads like the accumulator is gone. One of the symptoms is it can no longer dampen the pump pulses.

Another is the clutch pedal is hard to depress when the engine is off. Or if the accum isn't all gone again with the engine off it only takes a few clutch pedal depress/release cycles to feel the clutch pedal get firm. Real firm.

The squeak sounds like something is loose in the clutch pedal area. That it goes away when you depress the clutch pedal suggests the mechanical assembly gets loaded and loose part is no longer loose and able to squeak.

There is no guarantee a new clutch was installed when the tranny was rebuilt.

If it was it should be listed on a copy of the work order.

The tranny in my Turbo was replaced at around 30 or 40K miles and while the tech and I both checked out the clutch it was clear it did *not* need replacing so it was left in service. With now over 106K miles the clutch still works just fine.

Thanks for the reply Macster. I don't seem to have the accumulator problem. The clutch is easy to depress and everything works fine with shifting. The squeak is more from under the car, like right under the drivers seat. Today I got under the car and removed the plastic covers and this piece of rubber was laying on top of the cover.

Pretty sure I've got a bad tranny mount.

Tranny mount could explain it or possibly a motor mount.

this would be the opportunity to get the 997 tranny mount, and the WEVO motor mounts
all of a sudden your shifting will get easier when under anything approaching full power

Well, it's not the transmission mount. 1 new mount later and this thing still squeaks like a bed at the Bunny Ranch! Going to give up and turn it over to a professional!

My vote is clutch throwout bearing.

You sure it isn't the clutch helper spring? Mine was squeaking and driving me crazy, and it went away completely after a little lube.

The helper spring only squeaks when the clutch pedal is being depressed or let out. This sounds like a whole different thing.
