997GT3 Shifter "SALE"
#31
Not aggressive at all in my opinion. Just shifting the car into gear when needed. I had the SSK on my 997.1 and liked it. I never had any issues.
Are the throws any shorter (noticeably) in the GT3 shifter compared to the non-SSK?

I Just installed the 997GT3 shifter, wow what difference, this is how the shifting action should feel. I knew the stock unit was **** but didn't realize to what degree until installation of the GT3 unit. I recommend this to anyone that is dis-enchanted with the 996TT stock shifter.
Not only was the stock unit vague, sloppy, and like rowing a canoe, but I also believe mine was mal-adjusted, there were signs of previous entry as i found the ball-socket for the fore/aft axis had apparently failed (found remnants) and was replaced with a more robust socket assembly of brass construction.
I was experiencing what i would term 1st gear "pop outs" from time to time where i would take off from a stop only to have the transmission pop out of gear because it wasn't fully engaging. It eventually became so I needed to make a conscious effort to engage first gear everytime i stopped, and when I didn't pay attention it would pop out . I attribute the pop-out issue to the replacement and subsequent mal-adjustment of the ball/socket by the previous owner, but the sloppy plastic bushings of the stock shifter certainly didn't help.

Kevin,
I assume the shifter comes with the black base right? It is not like having to put a b&m in where you retain the oem black base? This would go into a 996 GT3? If so count me in. I will email you. Tom

Kevin,
My car came with the SSK installed. How does the GT3 SSK compare? I understand the upgrade from a stock unit, but was wondering about the 996TT SSK vs GT3 difference.

Tom and Frank, I have replied to your emails.
uschoice, Are we talking about the B&M SSK? The other option is the 997SSk?
For what it is worth, from "my" opinion. The 997GT3 shifter is not notchy and very smooth.
Please note, the throw distance is about 15% longer vs the SSK.
