Default 997GT3 Shifter "SALE"

Folks, I have the chance to secure a quantity of 15 each 997 GT3 shifters. They are NOT all in hand, and I must have the majority/heavy interest to launch the sale. Parts have gone up at the beginning of the year.

The cost is $369.00 plus shipping. NOTE>>

This is a lost liter sale for Ultimate Motorwerks. I am teaming up with my good friends at Sonnen Porsche to celebrate a 20 year relationship that I have with them.

If anyone is interested PLEASE email me.. The shifter is Genuine Porsche in a Genuine Porsche box, and CURRENT inventory NO blems or "B" stock.

FYI: The current retail cost for the 997GT3 shifter is $443.48 It has gone up in price.

The throw is a little longer, but it has metal bushings instead of plastic, so it's more precise.

I have one and LOVE it. No need for anything shorter.

I feel the 997GT3 shifter has the perfect balance for the street and track use. I like it better than the 997SSK..

If you get anxious when you shift, you risk bending the shift forks..

Put another way, if you speed shift the 997SSK or ANY SSK you risk a tranny
rebuild.. SEEN IT, DONE IT BEEN THERE..

If you can bench press over 250 lbs and are HAM fisted, you will shorten the
life of your gearbox. It will manifest into 2nd and/or 3rd gear popping out.

If you want SAFE go with the GT3.. If you want to take a risk go with the
SSK. I also feel that the 997SSK is more notchy shifting across the GATE..

Question, why wouldn't Porsche install a 997SSK with aluminum billet guts in
there flagship 997 GT3 and 997GT3RS?????

Al please email me. I will forward the details with a followup email.

NSX, Paul nailed it, the 997SSK does NOT have billet GUTS, it is all plastic (yes, the shift lever is steel). The 997GT3 unit is stronger, tighter and better built. The throw is between 5 to 10% longer vs the 997SSK. However, I like the FEEL of the 997GT3 unit vs the 997SSK.

I am sticking with the 997GT3 shifter, Kevin. Taylor already has one of these on order for me, so I won't be in the group buy, sorry. But I am sticking with your advice and going with the GT3 over the 997SSK.

I swapped out my 997SSK for the GT3 and find it shifts smoother and less notchy. Definitely the way to go IMHO.

sanyata, can you give the folks on Rennlist your evaluation of the throw distance between the 997SSK and the 997GT3 shifter.

To me the increased change in the throw distance was just about right, hard to quantify but maybe 3/4" each way fore and aft. It is noticeably smoother and has a less notchy mechanical feel to it.

The previous owner put a B&M SSK in my TT. It's ok I guess, my indy mechanic wasn't impressed though. Something about how it has to be installed. I assume the thinking among you all is that the 997GT3 shifter is a much better choice and worth upgrading?
