Default Track Wheel Suggestions & Other Track stuff

I'm well versed in the Vette world since I have a full Race C5. But still a Porsche track virgin. My ride is new to me and pristine. Gonna hate pock marking the hood from Summit and the like. In any event I surely would welcome some track wheel suggestions. I have noticed everything is three times my normal cost for our cars so would appreciate some good ideas from experience. I was thinking maybe there is something inexpensive? Yah, right!

Would also like some suggestions for a harness bar.

My TT will not be the main track star, but geesh, it has to get to the track a few times per year!!

Thanks for your help!

Gary

Yeah, the Porsche Tax sucks... I've never modded a car in my life this slow before! The hunt for used parts takes a while too. Regarding the wheels, I'm on the same mission and have been looking at the 18" OZ Alleggerita in GT2 sizing for the wider tires. TireRack has a sale going on too, tempting!

Stock wheels are pretty readily available and relatively cheap. The good news is that they're very strong as well. The bad news is that they're heavy for a track wheel. Guys are running everything from OZ, CCW, BBS, Fiske etc. and there doesn't seem to be a concensus.
Run what you like, the only thing I will advise is to be attentive to the tire diameter sizing. Makes all the difference in the world.

The 18" OZ Alleggerita are nice and light and look good and not expensive. GT3 front brake ducts for better cooling, these were very cheap.

Sets of four OEM turbo-twist hollow spokes can be found for about $1K; I picked up a couple sets two years ago that have served me well.

I've also been pleased with the Brey-Krause bolt-in harness bar, but you'll need to replace the stock seats if you are going to use harnesses. I picked up a set of the OEM Euro GT3 seats which can be used with the Schroth GT3 harnesses attached to the seats (no need to drill holes in the floor for mounting the harnesses.) Seats will probably be your biggest single expense in the initial track set-up equation. Euro GT3 seats can be found used for around $3K.

Enjoy your ride!

I have two almost brand new 18" OZ rears in Anthracite for sale. Correct offset for your car. Half price. PM me if interested.

Victory Equipment - InnsbruckRF. Very nice wheel, well made and won't break the bank.

Already alluded to, but tire sizes actually available get tricky, so a base 18" wheel will give you a much greater tire selection. Concentrate on the tire rolling diameters, as you now have to account for tire matches. Not so in your vette
Fwiw I also have BBS RS GTs. Note: easy to clean!

I vote for hollow spokes. They are rock solid and not "that" heavy ....

Painted them red to make them faster.
