Just do it! I have same year, X50 package. Fixed the spoiler issue with a GT2 fixed wing.
An UMW flash and a muffler, and you're set for life.

I bought the same car without the tip ('02, X50, 25,000 miles) for $45k from a friend this sumer. It had similar issues. I don't regret it at all.

Looks like a pretty sweet deal even with the issues.

On the stiffness issue. All I know is that if you can put a jack on the rear jack point of a cab, and lift the whole side of the car off the ground. The the chassis is pretty damn stiff.

"Porsche had to weld tubing for bracing behind the "B" pillar and the seat belt retractor mount. It has to do with a side impact area...If you welded in the 4" piece of tubing, and the metal strap, you would have a 2002 chassis."

A 4" piece of tubing and a strap welded to the "B" pillar does not produce a 25% stiffer chassis.

Thats not all, there are other parts of different pn's. So with that information , i sumerize there is some truth to the 2002 being stiffer.

Congrats and welcome, you won't be disappointed! You will love the X50 and the rest of the car. Super sexy color combo.... you will have to buy a big stick to beat the beautiful woman away that will flock every time you stop!
