Default Hawaiian Outrigger Canoe Transport

I recently sold my daily driver, a highly modified 2006 Suby WRX (wagon) built by LIC Motorsports, and replaced it with my 996TT.

I race OC1's so I need to carry 1 or 2 canoes 4 times a week in the summer. I was skeptical about the length of the roof rack of the 911 vs the longer roof of the WRX. Shocking bit o' info for you people who think you need a longer roof to carry long items like ski pods, surf/SUP/equipment etc. The difference from center cross bar to center cross bar (with the crossbars on the WRX Wagon at either end of the rails, as far apart as possible) is only -1.5" for the 996 911. Optically it doesn't seem like it, but the difference is only an inch and a half. The 996 also has a higher weight limit than the WRX, but that's irrelevant since the canoe in the pic is only 20lbs. The entire rack system on the 996 is stronger, and more stable in dealing with lateral and vertical forces (wind while driving).

I'm used to the OCs they use in the Molokai Hoe.

Do you get any movement going down the road at all ? Is there a certain speed limit you keep it under ?

On my Subaru I kept it under 75mph. This rack is stronger, but I'll probably keep it around the same limit. There is absolutely zero movement. It's way more stable than the Suby rack.

Oh wow, I would have thought you would have to keep at a lower speed than that. Do you also have to put a flag on the back then?
