Default UMW flash installation

just received the OBD cable and CD rom.

So for the installation, how exactly do you install
a. software
b. cable
c. connect to car and use

Please be specific, I have tried a number of configurations without success, and I think it is a bit early to catch Kevin on phone. So if anyone can guide me through it, while I wait in Kevin getting back to me it would be much appreciated.

Steve

Wellllllllllll? What do you think?

I'm just mad at Kevin because he's turned me into a power junkie and I'm trying to sell things to save up for stage 2!

no idea yet. Only just got hooked up to ECU and took readings. The car already has a flash, but it is unknown, so I wanted to go to a version that is well respected and I can also reset to factory standard for Swiss vehicle control check.

The car is already running near 500bhp and is outstanding. So yes I can see the attraction of the need for speed. No doubt I will at some stage press Kevin to move me up to stage 2, then 3 etc.

I had a box standard 964 T2 before and swore I wouldn't tune it. When sold it was running just short of the 450bhp mark (CIS limiting)

Hi, Would it be possible to describe the flash process from purchase to driving. What hardware, software equipment do you buy, borrow, etc.? Does he send you a special OBDII scanner with a flashdrive? Just curious.
Thanks,
Dave

It's pretty easy. He will send you the equipment to read your ECU, then you send it back, he builds the tune and sends it back to you. Load and send the equipment back.

The better and most convenient way is to buy his Data logger which includes s/w to run on a windows notebook, and the cable. It will pull your ECU program, you email it to Kevin, he emails you back the tune (4 hours later in my case), and you load it from the PC.

Then you can log some runs, send the log to Kevin, he will tweak the tune and send it back to you.
(again in my case it was just a matter of hours.) The advantage to this is you can restore the factory tune anytime you need.

Very good service. Call Kevin and he will answer all your questions.

Thanks, SSST. That sounds pretty easy. What do you think the resuls would be with otherwise stock 2001 996TT?

Based on my experience, the results are WoooooooHoooooo! Turbos spool up quicker and turbo lag is virtually eliminated for more low rpm torque.

It did expose that I had worn out coils at 59k. I was getting misfires at Wot in 4th starting at about 5000 rpm. Replaced coils and plugs during the 60k maintenance cycle and the car has been brilliant since. It's the best upgrade you can do on this car for the money.
