New 996tt owner saying hi
Hello, I'm a new 996tt owner and wanted to say hi to the forum. I picked up my turbo the last week in June and then left on a 3 week vacation, so it's been sitting in the garage since. To cure my cravings about driving the car, I've been reading Rennlist and 6SOL forums to get as much information as possible about my new ride. I got a nice 2003 996TT with 49,000 miles on it. Had it PPI'd by an indy shop which gave it a clean bill of health. Got a nice roadtrip in with my 15 year old, soon to be driving son, to pick it up. Trailered it home to avoid construction damage on I80. It has been a blast to drive for the 100 or so miles I got in before I left. Luckily, my son doesn't know how to drive a stick yet. This forum as been a wealth of information. I am a pretty decent wrench and would like to continue to wrench on the turbo. I know this forum will help a ton.
Here's a pic of it at our overnight in Tahoe CA.

Welcome (may I call you Richard?), and enjoy your new ride.
I recently bought a TT from a friend and have liked it so much that I sold my '06 Carrera S. It is a sweet ride and feels as solid as a German bank vault.......that happens to haul azz and handle really well!!
Before you turn your son loose by himself in that thing, he needs to learn that things happen very quickly in any modern Porsche and that maturity and caution are warranted.
But you knew that!! LOL!!
Enjoy!!

Hi Back, My "moniker" is related to a previous profession and a derogatory name a person called me. I recall she said "I don't have to talk to you, I make more money then you do! You're just a "Ranger Dick" Hence, the moniker. My real name is Matt, but I seem to be called alot worse. Thanks for the good words.

welcome, and nice car.. congrats! i remember you saying your son didn't drive yet and i suggested you not test that by leaving the keys on a kitchen counter! drive it in good health. this forum and the other one are invaluable for info and even minutia, as you've correctly noted. so many attributes and even quirks of these cars are peculiar to it alone, that it's nice to have help like this. cheers!

Congrats on the car and welcome.
Both RL and 6speed are fantastic resources... I was looking for some info on wastegates and I realized the depth of info on both.
Where did you find her? Prior owner a member anywhere?
Enjoy

Hi Adam found it in Reno Nevada. Prior owner had no affiliation with any site. In researching the car, sites listed 5 prior owners, but in reality it was 3. The guy I purchased it from got it CPO from Porsche so I felt pretty confident about it. He had perfect documentation and all the stamps. Well cared for and no signs of abuse. The only issues are front bumper nicks from winter Reno driving. The interior is very clean. Has a mild tune from a shop in Arizona but otherwise stock. I paid $39,000 for it. I think that is pretty good for an 03 and 49,000 miles. It will be a DD, and don't plan on modding it...yet. Right now I can only post pics of Tahoe, but head back on Tuesday. Plan on a good detail and cleaning. Then pics. My son would like to learn stick and I would love to have him drive it at some point under close supervision, but he needs a significant skill set first. Thanks for all the good words of encouragement. Best Matt

Incredible price. Best of luck! Enjoy it.
I let my 18 year old drive my '03 turbo (with me in it) - he did superb, better than others that I had let drive it...However, he learned to drive stick on his Integra. I don't think I am ready to let him out alone in it...God knows what he does on his own.
