Re #6,
Having just got back from a trip round Europe, I can tell you that with standard suspension and properly set up geometry that the car feels totally stable all the way to 180 MPH. The work that goes into a geometry set up is only good until it backs out of the garage and hits a bump. Most of the guys near me get a check/set up once a year, due the poor state of the roads here. Not many places can do 4 wheel drive set up correctly on the 996, as per the factory spec' over here. It's worth getting it checked.

My mechanic set my rears up to help with inner side tire wear....tiny loss for huge savings....much better....(less camber). Just a thought....you lose a tiny bit at the limit, but I bet I get 40% more rear wear...maybe 60%....not sure. It is about 5k to 8-10k now for rears...
To replace my car now is officially about 399,000 (car and driver champion rsr turbo S cost....)....
FYI: http://forums.kilometermagazine.com/...-911-Turbo-RSR
These cars lack:
1. Air cooled oil smell....
2. Lack electronic steering...like the 991...a good thing in my mind.

From the factory:
More adjustment in the suspension like the GT2 or 3 would be awesome on the Turbo.
A lower ride hieght would be cool too.
A real front splitter to help w/ the understear.
Rolled rear fenders
The radio head unit is a POS! For a car that stickered around 145K it's pretty pathetic actually.
On the 996 a home sinc for garage doors would have been nice.

Agree that a lower ride height would be more visually appealing, if perhaps slightly less practical.

H&R lowering springs to lower the ride height.
I decided my driving style doesn't need the splitter just yet.
I rolled the fenders myself.
The radio is on a short list to be replaced.
All in all I love my car and don't mine getting to add and change things to personalize it to me. I'd say the area a Porsche 911 Turbo falls short the greatest and most consistsnt is the driver.
