Replaced the rear cross member with the aluminum one from a GT3. Damm those GT3 cross members are fast. Changed the oil with M1 5-50 as usual and window welded the front trans mount. In looking at the mount and the whole car i can see where the trans mount might affect shifting. The rear mounts (mine are the Porsche RS mounts) restrain the engine side to side and up and down but not front to back because they are mounted to the aluminum cross member that has a lot of flex in the fore and aft direction. The front trans mount directly takes this fore and aft motion. The shift cables are right there in line with the for and aft movement and would be pushed and pulled on. I have gone for a short drive and think the sifter feels a bit more steady when on and off the throttle. Time will tell, commuting to the bay area tomorrow and will take the farmer freeway for some performance testing.

I have all three of those on my short-term to-do list. Great at making lists, but not great at making time to check off the Turbo related tasks.

I was able to tackle the roll bar by myself in less that two hours. Take your time. Remove the rear view mirror. You have to trim the plastic behind the carpet for the lower mounts to seat correctly. Wrap the top of the bar with a towel. This will help prevent breaking the windshield if you bump it. Wrap the mounting points of the bar until the bar is in the car. This will prevent any scratches to the interior. Test install the hardware before putting the roll bar in. Start all bolts. Leave loose until all bolts have been started, then tighten.

OK, testing of the window welded trans mount is complete. Did my commute yesterday along with some spirited driving. What i noticed is that the shifter seems more steady, maybe? If I put my hand on the shifter and get on and off the gas seems like it used to move fron to back just a little, now it does not seem to move at all and not noticeable NVH increase. I did get some trany whine when i installed the RS motor mounts about a year ago.

Seems like alot people are changing the fuel filter. Have had a new one sitting on the shelf since last year. After 14 years and 13k miles it was time to replace. Like everything else on this car it was shoe horned in, a tight fit for sure.
Haven't driven the car much this year. No Placebo effect, it is quicker.. At least 50+hp more..thumbup:
