I do have the ecsta and really like them and really happy about the result in the rain. Also not too noisy and grip really well... But I am not too good at judging because it is the only type I ever used ;-)

Try the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo, they came in just below the Michelins, beat ou the Khumos and are priced right.
I have them and changed from the Michelins PS2 to the Hankooks, and they grip, are quieter, and better riding.
See test below:

Read into the test more as well, as the winner was an overall average not the best performer. The Kumhos tested here are the XS version not the SPT. The XS is Kumho's track tire and in the dry, it outperformed every tire in the test. So it really depends on what you are looking for in a tire. If it is a one stop tire for both dry and rain (will be a compromise of both), then go with the V12. If you are in an area with little rain in the summer, the Kumho XS have been the best bang for the buck I've ever tried. They do suck in the wet though.

Has anyone used the vredestein ultrac sessanta

I used them before - not on a Porsche - low price but excellent performance - a bit less than Mich's in the rain but also very quiet and smooth. Would definitely try them on the Porsche

I have mixed tires, n-rated fronts and Exctas rear. Price to quality ratio is spot on. However, PSM kicks in quite aggressively on Ecstas.

mixing tires - n &non n - is a very bad idea. Your PSM may be going off simply because of diameter mismatch

to OP - have a friend who runs the Kuhmos on his 2003 996TT and is happy
had them on my RSA, and worked fine

I run these Kumhos on my Turbo. 235/40/18 and 295/30/18. Great tires. Hard to beat the price. I'd love to switch to Michelins, but at twice the price, I can't see how they can possibly perform 2x's as good.

Rear tire diameter will get smaller quickly!

Another fan of the Hankooks here. They have preven to be an exceptional street tire, and I think the wet performance is better than the PS2 based on my experience.

Ran the Vreds 235/35 & 295/30. In 19's. Very good tires, I paid $200 for rears each, $160 ish for fronts ea ; not sure if they have proper sizes in18's.
