I don't get the error light. I can look to see what I did with the senors...I think I just left them in....since you are leaving the wing posts in...the car just thinks they are up.

i ( well,.. speed gallery ) was able to fix my leaking rams and essentially "rebuid" them as all that had happened is the fluid had leaked to the degree that there wasn't enough pressure in the system to raise and lower the rams/wing.

a quick ( well, a couple of..) refill of the rams with lucas stopleak and finally getting the levels to tach left/right and my spoiler is again fully functional. there is a DIY on this somewhere that i copied and my tech didn't even look at it, just removed the decklid, and assembly over to a workbench with a 12v power source to operate the motor, and the repair began.

if people understood the fix there'd be more guys ( or mechanic/shops/techs. ) fixing these, instead of going straight for either the OEM replacement kit, or the fixed wing kit on ebay.. or simply unplugging the connections at the wiring harness to disconnect it altogether.

i have a kit if anyone wants/needs.

My tech is going to look at them today. I have not seen them leak since the first day when I wiped them down. they still function properly.

good luck. if you need the DIY instructions to bleed them etc. search or i have them if that fails. a lot of techs haven't messed with them either as porsche's policy is to replace the entire mechanism.

Replacing the rams is not an easy task. The bleeding process is hit and miss. There is such little volume of fluid, that if you do not position the rams correctly as partially extended, you loose too much fluid. Since new rams are about $450 a piece, and the entire system sealed and new is 1300, To me it's a no brianer since the replacement procedure is very easy.

it's true that the most difficult step of the bleeing process is replacing the correct amount of fluid or the rams won't raise evenly. if at all. it is hit or miss, but mine is currently working after being disassembled and re-bled etc.

so far so good. took an hour and a half.

Glad you had success, I worked on mine for 2 days straight and could never get them 100%. Gave up and bought the entire system.Hopefully will not have to worry for sometime now.

Just FYI...I left my sensor switch's plugged into the right ram w/my manually adjustable kit installed. No spoiler warning. It just thinks it is up (or down).

Leaking for spoiler hydraulics causing "harm to hoses. seals. wiring and such- maybe paint"

Never read this, ever.

Pentosin is bad. But NEVER heard of this causing damage. They leak-principally weep- then fail.

Henny Penny crap, IMO

I am no mechanic BUT you would think that Porsche would have provided a more reliable and cost effective product like full electric motors and no hydraulics.

Cost effective for who ? That's the real question.

It Seems to me this is pretty cost effective for Porsche @ $1300 replacement cost provided the failures occured outsiide the warranty period.
