This is a very personal issue and everybody feels differently about it. I had a 993 cab, then a 993TT - I loved the 993TT. I purchased a 996TT in '02 and was going to keep the 993TT as a "last of the air cooled '97 turbo", but noticed I was not driving it much and the times I did, I no longer loved it like I did before I owned the 996TT. I ended up selling it after a while, with no regrets whatsoever. Personally, I much prefer the 996TT in every way. The only thing I miss is the solid thud of the door closing, but for me, that's not really a good enough reason to keep one around. I modified my 996TT, as soon as I got it with flash, exhaust and PSS-9 suspension. My 6th 911, I'm still loving it after 10 years - no other car has ever come close to keeping me so satisfied for so long! I have however progressively upgraded the car over the 10 years to keep it fresh. I understand not everyone feels the same way, but I absolutely love driving my 996TT, as the 116,000 miles (while stored winters) demonstrate.

PS. I will never miss the 993s

"if I lift throttle in mid corner I'm going to die feeling."

The 996TT stability control is quite smart and keeps you on the road.

PPS. Just do it!!!

PPPS. Don't think...You have to feel....Bruce Lee

this thread brings back memories of both the wonderful vacuum thump of the 993 doors closing as other's have mentioned; ( 66 vw bugs thumped too )
yet, the 993 *** end swingin' sideways to an upcoming corner, was frightening, in a way the 996t would not easily allow.

i agree, the car is smart indeed. the last time i was sideways in the 996t, i didn't think i would lose it. but the 993 with half the power, had me kissing the ground more than once.

John D II- that's a great shot of your car. If a Speed Yellow had been in the mix when I was looking, that would be the one I'd have today, not that I don't love Cobalt Blue.
