Default Want to buy Durametric software

Hi Guys,

New Turbo Owner here; I have owned 4 911s but this is the first turbo. Now I get it---

Back in July I bought a 2001 TT with 21000 miles- it's been a blast but last week it developed a miss above 4000 rpm that I am working on.

I am buying the durametric software, however I wondered if there are any former 996tt owners out there that would be interested in selling the software?

Pls PM if any interest-

Thx

Isn't the software downloadable? It's the cable they charge for, rigjt?

That's the way I understand it. The software is free. Their proprietary OBD cable is what you pay for. Why not just contact Durametric? IIRC, it's less than $300 for the kit and you can have up to like 3 or 4 cars registered to the OBD cable. If $300 is a deal breaker for you, then see if a friend will split it with you.

My money is on plugs/coils if they haven't been replaced since new.

Danyol,

I thought the same thing but I changed the plugs Thursday and the miss is still there- coil packs all looked fine. I need to go ahead and get the cable and software.

Thought I might find a former owner with a cable for sale-

Thanks

They show up in the classifieds from time to time but they go fast.

Will I be able to buy one Durametric kit to service both a 2006 Boxster 987S and a 1997 993 Turbo? Thanks for the help.

Th "enthusiasts" version will read up to 3 different cpu's. When you first hook up the cable, there is a long list of models to choose from, so your Boxster should be fine. Check with Durametric before you buy to be sure, but I think that all Porsche DME's are included.

Even better, if you decide to buy a new Porsche, you can use the Durametric to read out the DME on any potential candidates(no limit on number of VINs read, only cleared). Once you've purchased a new car, you can send the cable back to them and they'll clear it for you. They'll only do this once.

OP- coil packs can LOOK fine and still cause issues.... 10 years in that heat will do it....

I might be willing to sell a cable- two more VINs allowed. PM me.
