I just re-read this thread and apparently this car is an X50. Those bigger K24 turbos probably contribute a bit to longevity..
I'm not so sure that anything other than bearings might be ready for replacement that soon, but mine needed them. My experience is that the Getrag G96/50 box is far more robust than many might imagine. I last opened mine ten+/- years at approximatel 130k miles and other than needing bearings, the gears and associated bits were found to be in near perfect condition. Nearing 100k miles later, I trust little has changed, and it is still as smooth as can be. They key to maximum longevity I suspect, is cutting the Porsche recommended gear oil change interval in half. It's what I do. A jug of Delvac every 50k miles or so, seems a small price to pay.

Don't they also tear down houses after they are 20 years old or something odd like that?

Yup. Or you are upside down in your condo if u you choose the wrong station or are more than 5mins away.
On the plus side I used to be able to get 70-90s cars for next to nothing. Now they are rare and getting expensive if they are in good condition. Now the cheapest cars are in the 2010s but I'm not interested.
