Default A question about Upsolute flash

I contacted Porsche Dealer and asked the tech that just replaced the clutch and plugs to my TT (OEM parts), which flash he recommends. He mentioned Upsolite which I had not heard about. I spent some time searching rennlist. Many many positive writings between years 2002 and 2006 but after that no posts about upsolute at all.

I have an Upsolute dealer close by and pricing makes their flash tempting.

Where did all the happy Upsolute TT drivers go? Would it still be a good bang like it was some years ago?

I can tell you thier tech and sales support is little to be desired. I have sent numerous EMails asking questions, and they always fail to respond!!!! I would not trust thier local dealer near me! The shop specializes in Volkswagons, and does not look like a shop i would take a 996 to.

Least expensive of them all.........I'm sure there are better, but not for the price. I've had Upsolute for years and it's been fine. Free upgrades when they come out. Paid less than $700 as i recall..........well worth the $$. No other power mod's.

My plan is to keep the car stock excluding the flash. There is plenty of power for me like it is, a little more for just a couple of euros sounds good. I e-mailed Kevin, he gave me good info. I know his flash is top of the line but doing the flash on my own and receiving and sending a box overseas seems like a lot of work - I am pretty sure the box will get stuck in our customs, there are VAT and custom fee issues... Upsolute dealer makes getting flash sound sooo easy.

I would like to hear more comments from Upsolute owners, if there are any?

The Ultimate Motorwerks flash for $975 offers alot of value. With not only a flash but you are getting Service and commitment to these cars. I have shipped to Finland with zero issues.

Go to my new Datalogging thread. That is another option, this device will allow you to read and write on demand and keep your stock file on hand.

I have Kevin's datalogger and it is a very nice tool. I was surprised how easy it is to use.

Kevin's is regarded as probably the best by this board. Just do a search on UMW upgrades...and for the price, it is even better.

My car had an Upsolute flash when I bought it. When I upgraded the turbos to Kevin's Stage 2A kit, I also got his tune. So I reall cannot make a one to one comparison, but here are a few comments...

Upsolute flash required removing ecu and sending to Upsolute. Maybe your dealer is close enough that that is no issue, but it's certainly a risk.

Upsolute was one of the first, but as I understand it they haven't changed a lot. Their tune ran ok on the car. It raised the boost limit to 1 bar and the rev limit to 7000.

The big selling point with Kevin is his service. He'll talk to you, help you understand your car and his tune, he's really good at diagnosing issues over the phone (I mean issues having nothing to do with his tune or hardware - he diagnosed a failing fuel pump and an intake leak in my car at different times). If I were doing it, I wouldn't hesitate to go with Kevin. Sometimes you get what you pay for, and this is one of those times.

Just get UMW code. It is reliable in all climates, has a guru behind it, and is amazing. He can tune it to special needs..octane, etc.

Very well worth it.

I had the Upsolute tune and it was notorious for killing MAFs. I switched to the UMW tune and uploader and have had excellent support from Kevin since...
