Okay just to be clear I am going to assume that you are putting your volt meter in line between the two leads and you are getting a good 12V reading.

That is a tough one because I don't think there is anything left between this junction point and the actual bulbs.

I am going to list all the things I checked even though I am sure you did the same.

I checked:

Fuses
Bulbs
Is the dash indicator showing the car is in reverse when it is?
I jiggled the shifter in and out of reverse to see if it is a bad contact in the selector
Did you try jumping the leads from the back side with a piece of wire?

Since I am sure you did all these things already I have two suggestions.

One is that even though I didn't find an actual relay behind the back seat according to Porsche parts there is an actual normal square 5 pin black cube relay in the reverse light system somewhere, maybe yours has gone bad. I have no idea who you can contact to find it. Maybe if you PM jpflip he might be able to find it in his wire diagrams.

The other suggestion is that the Parktronic system is the problem and sorry I know nothing about it.

Sorry I couldn't more helpful.

Hello jpflip, can I ask you a huge favor on jrockwood's behalf? Can you take quick look through your wiring diagrams again and see if there is another relay somewhere in the back up light system?

thanks.

Sorry I cannot see any...The wiring diagram is not very specific for tiptronic backup light. It is a bit confusing. In my previous post you got a picture of the relay carrier #2. Here I give you the relay carrier #1. You will see there is nothing else in relation with a backup light relay. I also added the park assist wiring diagram for your info...

I think I found your next step, if you want to take it.

Read this thread. When you get to post #11 there is diagram of where the switch is on the shift lever. Getting to it and removing it and cleaning the contacts is your next step.

Also this one:

Let me know how it goes. I might have to do the same to mine because now my reverse lights are working intermittently.
