Porsche oil change fun fact
After removing my engine and replacing the center oil ring, in the intake cam that directs the oils flow for the variocam advance, I put in 8 quarts of oil. I started the motor and got an engine oil low alarm. Did a auto check and got no reading. So, I added 1 quart of oil. Took another reading and still no level on the meter. Thinking my oil level sensor was bad I changed it. Still the same error with the new sensor. I drained the oil and only 7 quarts came out. I added 8.5 quarts and the sensor showed 3/4 full on the gauge. Here is the fun fact: even though you drain the oil from the crankcase, reservoir and turbos, you still have from 1 -1 1/2 quarts hiding in the engine.
I did notice that the whole time the engine was out of the car it was leaking oil from different places, there was always oil and coolant on the floor. Every time I removed a part some oil came out. I wouldn't be surprised that after draining the oil and removing the engine there wasn't a total of 1 1/2 quarts that leaked out.

Thanks for all your knowledge and support. I could not have done it without Kevin, Karl (PorscheDoc) and everyone else who gave information freely.

Three Wheelin'
Joel , do you know if the parts you have installed for the cams ( center rings) are updated, improved, modified, harder metal, or....???? I'm happy for you, this saga is over and you will be able to enjoy your TT again, that's good....

The part number in the PET was 996 105 280 74. That was the same exact number on the part from Porsche. I assume that if there was any improvements they would have changed the 74, on the part number. I only know of 2 other people that this has happened to. Not sure what has to happen for a part upgrade.
