Default Moving to upstate NY- Should I sell?

I am relocating from Lower Alabama to VERY upstate NY (Ft. Drum) in June, and I am tossing around the idea of whether I should sell my car. I hate the idea of only being able to enjoy the car but for a few months out of the year, due to weather. I've only had it since OCT, and was NOT expecting NY to be my next place of employment. Any input from others in the upstate area?
The car is an 03 X50 with 24K miles, Techart kit, UMW Flash and 1BAR UMW WGs. How's the market look?

I personally would be inclined to keep the car. The average monthly high temperatures at Ft Drum is 40 degrees or higher for nine consecutive months each year. The average low temperature for seven of these nine months is above freezing. They average no snowfall from the last half of May through the first half of October. Given the nine month average high/low temperatures, my guess is the roads are clear of snow for more than this five month no-snow period, providing plenty of Turbo driving opportunities even if you elect to drive only on roads with no snow.

Damn, I am not that far north, but it not like there are no 911s up in NY. I have a 996TT cab that I use from March thru Dec. I would keep it. We're not dead up here in the north

Daughter and her Family were based at Drum, beautiful area to drive, just put the car away when the weather is bad! OH-58 Pilot? So was my son-in-law. Good luck with your decision!

I do wan't to keep the car, just want to make sure I'll be able to enjoy it up there. Don't think I could bare having to look at the car in the garage for 8 months out of the year, since I couldn't bring myself to drive it in the snow... Hell- I won't even drive it in the rain if I can help it- too much work to get it pretty again :-P

upstate isn't all that bad. even in winter you'll have opportunities to take the car out with snows or AS tires. however, the salting is fierce so you may want avoid driving after snowfall. with the market for 996TT's the way it is, you'll probably need to hold on to it anyway.

If you only get to drive it half the year and then sit in the garage making vroom vroom sounds while sitting in it is better than being without 12 months of the year!

Keep it, the spring, summer and fall drives upstate NY will be well enjoyed! You can take it to Vermont New Hampshire, and Maine. Plenty of driving and enjoyment even if you park it for the winter.

Keep it and get a set of winter wheels and tires. It won't melt! The roads in upstate NY are MADE for sports cars ! Just my humble opinion, of course..

Agreed - some great driving in the upper NY farm country. Our PCA often schedules a rally in upstate NY and the driving is fantastic.
