One tool married to one vin number. It gets rid of friends sharing and fighting over tools/cables. You can demo it to your friend, then tell him to go and buy one. I'll remember the referral.

Here is another picture from another/seperate engine failure.

A few milliseconds prior the X50/GT3 oil pump was getting packed with bearing material. The intermediate shaft bearings were hammered. The owner release the clutch in a lower gear to try to restart the engine.

What were the series of events here? Excess metal clogged the pump then the crank went? Are people monitoring wear on these engines with an oil analysis? It could have likely shown abnormal wear and been a good warning sign.

haulinkraut, both of these engines failed very quickly. Most guys here are running there oil changes past 5K miles. These failures happend in less than 2500!

TT Surgeon, yes I have programming for the 997TT. Feel free to call me and we can "talk"

5 bar? No wonder. The fuel pump was probably struggling and causing lean spikes.

What do you think caused this? Fuel pump failure or a series of other events?

Plain and simple > detonation, to much timing and vital warning DTC being shut off in the programming. Anotherwords> the CEL do not appear when things are going wrong.

Large K24 hybrids and the larger K16 hybrids can use all the fuel available. Things go quickly lean and detonation is the result.

Can I say>> datalog, datalog and datalog some more.. I recently received a email from a Rennlister that has probably called me 15 times over the last 2 years to finally settle with another tuner. He then reads this threads and asks me to help him datalog his engine to see if it's okay.. His tuner doesn't have the time to explain what is required to datalog and to teach him what all the data means. The truth is most likely in the middle.

It does require patients and a good laptop, Mac's won't cut it (gotta say that, I'm a rock throw away from Microsoft) In order to see some good data we need to hit 4th gear pulls when you get on the track or...

Datalogging is a must in all modified engines. In the modified B5 S4 world, datalogging is done very often. I can't imagine why somebody with a car that has an engine worth more than most cars would not datalog. And do oil analysis on a fairly frequent interval.

Because most people trust the products/tunes the buy, even if they know nothing about their car or the tuner/maker... Ignorance is bliss...

Fortunately, "my" tuner is Kevin and he had me install some excellent data logging goodies...

I datalog with a Durametric on my Mac, running Windows under VM-Fusion.

Kevin - Please throw several rocks at Microsoft for me.

Kevin,
What do you consider a lean AFR for these cars?

If you don't care about doing the data logging ask your tuner for logs that HE has done and ask your fellow forum members. In the end it is better than a dyno sheet.
