I remember reading somewhere that the factory claims the engines in the 996 Turbo are good for 250,000 miles........

Turbo's are original and the engine has to have the exhasut ports for the secondary air cleaned out at about 173,000 miles - at that point we looked at the valves and they were clean as a whistle.

Way to go T2 - that's fantastic! I'd be interested in knowing how things have held up over those miles - has winter driving caused any corrosion, any recurring mechanical gremlins, etc. Speaking on behalf of those of us that actually drive our cars, you're our hero !!

My salesman (also an owner of a Boxster S and a 928 S4) if nuts about cars interiors and one of the first things he likes to point out is the shape of my interior. I had to get the steering wheel leather redone as it was finally shot but the seats, dash and carpeting all looks great. I attribute the seats condition to only one thing. I've driven 90%+ of the miles in the car wearing blue jeans that get washed in a machine not by chemicals at the dry cleaners. I've seen cars with 30,000+ miles with the drivers seat totally destroyed - I mean totally destroyed - I suspect that the dry cleaning chemicals used do a number on the leather over time. I am also a fairly medium size frame - 5'10" and 165# - the seats I mentioned above must have been used by someone alot bigger than me - the LHS of the drivers seats was just freaking totalled. Honestly I don't spend alot of time recon'ing the interior of my car - I clean the inside windows, wipe the dash with a damp or dry cloth (same with the seats) and vacuum it out. Once every year or two when it goes in for a redo on the clear film it gets a proper detail and leather recon.
I'll post some pictures later today of the interior which means I'll have to vacuum it now as the kids had horse lessons last week and the inside it trashed......

Thanks for the summary on the interior. I think you are on to something with the dry cleaning.
The dash is an area I've wondered about in terms of how it will hold up over the long term. Looks like it's pretty solid.
