Ultimate Motorwerks 75mm Side Intake Distributor Kit
Since the 993 GT2 Porsche Motorsports has increased the intake piping to each turbocharger. The piping was increased from 56mm to 68mm. With the introduction of the 996TT and 996 GT2 the inlet piping has remained restrictive.
Due to the orientation of the intake system the passenger side ducting is routed over the transmission. The left side is almost 16 inches longer. Porsche has cast a very restrictive aluminum intake distributor. The piping diameter is compromised on the drivers side weaving between the suspension components.
When we decide to tune the ECU, the boost request is increased. The turbochargers are spooled up to meet the requested boost. The compressor wheels will draw air or suck air thru the intake air tubing/distributor. The best way that I can explain the problem that we have is similar to using a coffee stir straw when we drink a Coke. When we insert larger piping we reduce the static pressure.
UMW intake kit utilizes 75mm ID piping. The hose used is specially designed for suction and negative pressure conditions. When we increase the hose diameter and reduce the static backpressure placed on the turbochargers, the turbochargers will spool up quicker. They will get on boost sooner. If one can generate boost sooner "lag" is reduced and the engine generates more power sooner in the RPM band.
This kit is highly recommended for anyone that is installing larger turbochargers or those looking for a way to increase K24 spool up. One can expect 350 RPM's reduction in lag on a stock set of K24's. This kit becomes required on tuning kits that have boost levels above 1.3 bars.
Ultimate Motorwerks 75mm Side Intake Distributor Kit is $1,695.00

Looks very nice.
So this is equivalent (not in its quality or direct comparison, but to what it does and its function) to what EVOMS calls its "inlet ducting"?
Is your hose collapsable at all, or is it solid?
thanks

flash68, there are many companies that offer the inlet piping kit. Gemballa, FVD, Ruf, and EVOM's..
The piping will NOT collapse. It will flex, but it isn't like "spa" hose that some companies have sold. It has a dual wound steel core to prevent crush and collapse.
I will post a picture of a Coke can next to the piping and fittings to give a reference for size. The stock piping will also be in the picture.

Hard plastic ABS pipe??? You have space and access restrictions? You can't fit a large diameter pipe in a fixed situation. If you want a solid piping system you will have to reduce the diamter of your piping. Flow is reduced. BTW, the spiral piping that I use is DESIGNED for negative pressure at high CFM.

From what I can tell, the EVOMS piece is 70mm the whole way through. I am just trying to understand this all. Your product looks very nice and I am seriously considering all the available options. It's good to have options!
thanks Kevin

Oh very nice!
I assume this hose material you use is strong enough to absorb most any debris or rocks that might fly up underneath the car? This has been a known issue on the carbon fiber inlet pipes (not in anyway comparing your hose material to carbon fiber either - just asking).
thanks
