996 TT SuperCar?
Was the Porsche 996 TT considered a Supercar? I thought I read somewhere that they were/are considered a supercar... and the best valued supercar for the money!

Buy an 01' for $40K and put 25K into it and you have (by most performance standards) a
modern day supercar;
I just sold my Protomotive modded 996TT for less than that and with a very mediocre driver
it could run 1:50 at Brainerd, 2:40 at Road America, 11 flat at 134+mph in the quarter mile
and under 27 seconds 0-300 kilometers (as measured at the Texas Mile during competition).
These are pretty outrageous numbers for a full weight street car and average track driver (me).
When pushed further, the car can produce even more...

What do you mean "was"? Hell yeah it is a...
0-60mph in a tick over 4 seconds, top speed almost 190mph. AWD. ABS, TC, PSM, 4-wheel disc brakes, 4 wheel independent suspension, litronics headlights, engine derived from GT1 race engine, dry sump, fuel injected, twin turbos, 420hp, 413ftlbs of torque, active aerodynamics, power leather seats with memory, auto climate control.
Can serve as a long distance tourer (drove my 3500+ miles over 6 days a couple of weeks ago through 100+ heat and driving T-storm rain), a daily driver, work commuter. Even used mine the other day to haul a load of dirty laundry to laundromat.
This weekend may take it on a blast up to the wilds of northeastern CA to visit the Lava Beds National Monument.
Supercar? You bet!
Sincerely,
Macster.

I owned an 06 GTO with the 6.0l 400hp 400ftlbs of torque engine equipped with 6-speed.
(Traded the GTO in when I bought the 08 Cayman S in early April this year.)
The GTO was of course quite fast though its weight was several hundred pounds over the Turbo's.
But my Turbo's performance substantially surpasses that of the GTO's. And it brings home just what is meant by supercar. The performance certainly, but with comfort, modern safety equipment, and cabin features that make spending 1 minute or 12 hours behind the wheel a pleasure.
I've ridden in faster, well at least more powerful cars, USA cars fitted with extremely powerful engines, but the ride, noise were horrible, the comfort non-existent. Practical? Hah!
Give me the Turbo any day.
Sincerely,
Macster.
