Default PCCB Brake Pads Cracked

I have a 2005 turbo S and for the past week or so the brakes have been making a squeaking or grating sound, so it was off to the dealer this morning (car is still under factory warranty). Got a call later in the morning to inform me the PCCB pads were cracked! Anyone else experienced this?

Did the dealer cover it under the warranty?

Yes, good thing too, 'cause the fix would have been about $2000 for all four wheels. The tech guy said this is not unusual! With only 30k miles I am not looking forward to the next time when I am out of warranty! There was plenty of wear left on the pads, but several cracks on each one. Anyone else have this problem??

No tracking for me and none for previous owner as far as I know. Yes - my pads looked just the photos above from Oak. I replaced with factory ones.

Oak,

Do you happen to have the part numbers for the factory greens handy - mine would be for a Gen 1 setup on a 2003 Turbo X50. Thanks T2

T2, sorry don't have them off hand, I think if you check out the 6 GT3 and did an inquiry or search you would find some info. They are the same pads. At the time I ordered them the only place I could source them from was directly from Porsche Motorsport.

Wow $2000 for brake pads? How much are the PCCB rotors? I have been thinking about a 996 TT but kinda want one without the PCCB option if possible since the parts are so $$$$$.

The pads were about $1550 from the dealer. The rotors are about $2500 EACH. If it ever comes to replacing them I will go with steel rotors - the price is about $2500 for all four wheels!
