Default my overweight TT

Guys I got my TT on a 4 pod scale yesterday at an SCCA event, my car weighted 3462lbs with half tank of gas, the cross distribution was 50% (I was told it was perfect) and the front to back ration was 62% at the back and 38% at the front, (I guess normal for a 911) I already have a lighter battery and will be taking out the back seats soon, are there any other cheap ways of making our TTs lighter?? how much do your cars weight?
BTW my car is a 02 6sp coupe no satnav, pretty much a base model

....if you want a 996 Turbo thats around 3000lbs, you need a GT2.....its just a heavy car, brilliant, but heavy....and to loose serious weight out of it you really need to strip it....and then there goes your car unless you're only going to race it.

Before any modifications, my '02 Turbo weighed 3480 lbs with a full tank of gas (measured on 4-pad scales). As for factory options at the time of that weighing, it had lumbar adjustment on both seats and sunroof delete.

The 996TT is a GT car, it weighs what it is designed to weigh. Leave it alone.

so Tom, you had to pretty much strip the car to bare metal inside + a lot of CF to lose 450lbs

yes but there are many things you can do to cut a couple of hundred pounds without affecting streetability that makes a huge difference!

check the site above that is mentioned, it has to the pound everything you can do. yes I cut my 60 pound roof off and replaced it with an 8 pound carbon piece, that may be a little extreme for some

Why do want to lighten your car so much? It s what it is, a damn fine street car that is very capable at the track. I vote to leave it alone.
Unless you have an all out race car like Tom's, and you're trying to squeeze every tenth of a second out of a lap time, what's the end point?
I wouldn't even consider doing a RWD conversion on a street car, just buy a gt3 and save the headaches.

Default Leave the car alone

If you want to go faster.... Hire a pro driving instructor! The 996tt is more car then 99.9% of their owners.

I notice that Tom, in his efforts to reduce weight has deleted the steering wheel.
One could just hire an achondroplastic dwarf as the driver......AS

I only wanted to get some ideas on how to lose weight, I got spanked really bad last Sunday by this car, an 07 Z06 with suspension work, full exhaust, engine mods, 335/50/18s Hoosiers all around!, 2 kirkey racing seats, and some more mods.. my car is bone stock and is still wearing the original Continentals
He beated me by 7.2 seconds on an AutoX

that car will be beating you for a long time I am afraid. you are comparing a prepared car with a heavy street car. you dont stand a chance. suspension work would be your first thing to upgrade as well as Hoosier A-6's. that will give you 5 seconds right there. its not the weight that is killing you.
also a race seat with a harness would be required to become competitive.
