Intercoolers can only be worth $15K if you are rich and a serious track hound or racer who "needs" to win stuff or if you have a 630+hp 996/7 engine which you drive at top speed on the autobahn........ things are a little more complicated outside your bubble

Couldn't you have simply said: "No"...?

But Al, surely it is a more complicated answer than a simple "no" ?

"no" for me and for you and as many have proved for street, drag cars which do not use the hp, but for track cars or autobahn users who really heat up their IATs the Secan is still the only credible solution (other than band aid stuff) We know Porsche comissioned the development of the Secan technology for the 993GT2 racers to be able to race at the 630hp level reliably, they didn't want to spend $15K (actually more like $20K now for those bigger Secan units) if they could have got away with something cheaper ? Or are we questioning Porsche racing R&D ?

Out of interest I mentioned to my guy at RS Tuning about this spectacular feat which was met with pretty much what I expected: "tell him to try that run back to back 10 times"
The real challenge is making these engines durable, they reckon 1300hp lasts about 10 mins at full load, 1000hp ~1/2 hour (this is WITH Secan BTW )
They have a (100K Euro) 800hp track/Autobahn engine which has covered 13K miles - that is what RS consider an achievement..... all FWIW

Edit: For those interested the RS Tuning 800hp engine is actually 850PS and achieves this using 1.1bar and Motec.....

The whole thing...

Your "GUY" should have just said "What an amazing accomplishment", and if he didn't, you could have used a little class and not posted his ignorant comment, but you did, which did indeed make you look foolish, or ignorant. Pick one.

I guess the other question no one else has asked is what have you done with your car that would compare to what Joe has done in his absolutely astounding accomplishment?

Joe, I want to congratulate you on this increadible accomplishment. It's truly amazing that you could run that car to those speeds after not driving it for 6 months...

Amazing!

I am guessing from your comment "what have you done with your car that would compare to what Joe has done" that you MiKelly like Jimmer are a 6speed jock ?

This is Rennlist Technical Forum not 6 speed..... Rennlist has always been about discussing issues in depth not just big high fives all round, although I was first in the queue to congratulate and really enjoyed the video. Super cool running to that insane speed with such nonchalance - love it

I thought other members may want to know what the best Porsche Turbo race engine builders in the world thought about a 1XXXhp Porsche turbo engine doing 231mph in 2Xs ? I am certainly very interested in the issues I mentioned it is something that has fascinated me for many years.... may be this is not the thread to be posting that stuff and if I have offended Rennlisters sensibilities then I apologise......

Joe,

Congrats on the run that is unreal. Are you going to change the gears and see if you can break the 1/4 record? Do you plan to leave it geared this way for normal use?

Awesome job to you and EVOMS!

Well I see you've answered the question I posed for you... Foolish idiot, I suppose.

Had you done your research, you'd know that I joined Rennlist (paying member for whatever that was at one point worth) before I ever joined 6speeds...

We can take this offline if you'd like. I prefer to let JoeTWINT enjoy the attention he certainly deserves...

Hey Buddy,
she is still stock gearing so we don't need to change anything except maybe tires.

Just as a yardstick, what would a stock K16 TT do in that setting?

I have made my congrats to Joe in the other place and it is a fantastic achievement-to all concerned.
That said--Toby and others are responsible for taking discussion beyond dyno bs to some real world numbers. The technical aspect of that result is something really quatifiable-- and only adds to the interest of all of us. Toby is often only saying what a lot are sus about --and no one should be offended at the questioning. You only have to look at the number of ridiculous claims made over the years in someone promoting their particular commercial interest and some of their customers.
I do get a laugh out of the "now repeat it 10 times" type comment. While that may be relevent to some( certainly to me) in the US the testing has gone from standing 1/4 mile,to terminals,to 60-130's,to standing miles--all adding to quatifiable comparisons.
Personally I do not see why any questioning has to be perceived as a negative-I think the expansion of details only adds to the credibility. It also bring some of the technical aspects out into the public arena for all to learn from-- we all benefit.
