If you check his profile, based on his posts, he is looking at purchasing:

Boxsters
928
996
996TT

Not really sure he knows what he wants.

I went through your list of previous posts, and I see you've been looking at a 996, Boxter S, 928, 40th Anniversary...and probably a few more. You were initially looking at cars that didn't approach the performance of the 996TT, yet you still feel you are disappointed in its performance? Did you drive any of the other cars you mentioned? If you did, how do you feel they stood up to the TT's performance? What standard of comparison are you using? What are you basing your disappointment on?

I dont' recall meeting you at the taco tuesday, but if you show up next time, I'll bring my 02TT and you tell me what it is that you feel is disappointing because I'd be interested. You mentioned in a previous post that you were in a lease till february....are you out of your lease now and ready to buy, or are you just making inquiries?

Hi Guys,
You're right that I haven't made up my mind on what to get yet. This is a big purchase so I want to take as much time as possible to make sure that I get what I really like. The cars that I'm considering are Cayman S, 996 turbo, 40th anni., 997, and nsx. The cars I have test drove are all of the listed, except the nsx, but includes BMW 135 and 335. I have test drove 2 turbos, 1 at Sunmotor in El Cerritos, and 1 at Auto Exchange in Alamo. Both places are ncie and helpful, espencially AE where the seller asked me to try the 997 since he said I might like it more, and I did. My finding is subjective so I dont mean to start any war thread. I know the cars in my lists are not all in the same class, but I want as much options as possible that are within my budget.

Thanks.

Hi Chuck,
I was at Taco Tue in Jan. It was a really good experience, I'm looking forward to attend more often. I'm out of my lease and ready to purchase. But I'm not in a rush so I'm still narrowing down my selections. It would be great that we could meet in the next Taco Tue.

Thanks.

You guys...

Cut this guy some slack... Not everyone will be gaga over the 996TT. Every stock 996TT I've driven or ridden in has been less than inspiring to me. I'd drive one every day, but would fell like a modded C5 or C5Z06 would hand me my butt.

These cars are a super value, but won't scratch every itch, for every buyer out there. You guys flamed him and he didn't respond negatively, so he gets my respect in that alone!

Happy hunting!

The very 1st time I test drove my current 996tt, I was not too impressed either. After a major service by the dealer, oil changes, spark plugs change and fix of boost leak; my 996tt is already a wooor now! It is still bone stock except a BMC, I am going to have an exhaust , dvs and an exhaust really soon.
Happy hunting!

Ok, let's play nice. Mate the two turbos you test drove must have had all vacuum lines leaking, dead plugs and a plank of wood under the gas pedal which stopped you flooring it. A 996TT even stock will shove you in the back of your seat much harder than 135 or 335. Period. Test a good one, then report back. . Once flashed another world altogether...

Chuck, I believe you missed the January taco tuesday that he attented. At the time he was interested in the 928's. If he has decided to pursue a 996TT, then he should go for it. I know I would trade my 928's for a TT like yours! Having driven yours, I can't imagine anyone would be disappointed. If he makes it to another taco tuesday, take him for a short drive on I-5 to show him the real potential of the TT

I have a feeling he has mistaken a boxster for a turbo.

I too am a bit surprised you feel the tt is disappointing when compared to a 997 S. I know those cars well, as my dad has one, and it certainly has a lot going for it. I like to describe that engine as very "charismatic." It just feels good and satisfying, no doubt about that. In fact, I would say my tt is not as satisfying in this way. With that said, however, my dad's car feels downright slow when compared to my tt, and pulls NO WHERE near has hard (although mine is flashed). Good luck in your search! I too like the 40th anniversary cars.
