My car has some of the wood interior options, not as many as yours, but I snagged it for $42k in late Dec 2008 and is a 2002 with 38k miles. I think the wood looks ok, but reality is they are just cheap stickers... This was probably the most profitable option on the 911! I looked up my option codes and I think a few wood stickers were around $2000 MSRP!

I got the window sticker from the PO when I bought the car, and the wood trim cost him $7825. I wasn't crazy about it, but it has grown on me over time. Now I like it.

GLWTS.

Adam: I'm not aware of any policy about not commenting on prices if not specifically requested. If that is the policy, then I apologize for being the first person in this particular thread to violate it. I feel that giving a fellow P car owner constructive feedback is part of what we are about here....now destructive or vindictive feedback that deliberately and maliciously knocked the product might be another matter....but surely informing a fellow Rennlister that he might be a tad bit high on his expectations shouldn't be out of line.

I say stick by your price if you don't absolutely have to sell the car.

The more people give these cars away, the lower the market value will be for all Turbos.

I am going to do a little more research on comparable prices and make a price adjustment. Stay tuned for an update!
You're welcome, glad to be of at least some help.

FYI, there is a midnight blue '01 Turbo with 18,700 miles on sale at a dealer in suburban MD for $46,900; while it is a year older, it has navigation and the full carbon fiber package (looks to be as extensive as your wood package): http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...eadExists=true

Unfortunately its not a collective market place and even if all the owners of 996TT’s on rennlist decided not to sell their cars at todays market value it would have zero effect on the market.

As far as the car which started the thread I can tell you this. In the six months I have been selling at a Porsches I have seen the prices drop like a stone. We have had the chance to buy several 2005 X50 TT’s with very low miles for prices right around 50 and management here does not want them. The fact of the matter is they made so many cars and they are just too many for sale ( like most cars these days) and you can buy a good clean low miles 996TT with whatever options you want for less than the 60k offered in this thread. You could hang on and look for that one perfect buyer but in the mean time the price of your car is going nowhere but down.

I have basically this same For Sale thread in the members section, so I don't mind this one having suggestions and such. I do think I'm going to ask an admin to delete the members one and start a fresh one though since it got a little too cluttered with price talk. I still would like for the car to go to a rennlister, so I don't want it getting too messy for someone to wade through.

That '01 is either a dealer desperate to clear inventory or there is something else to it. I most definitely will not sell my car for something like that.

I just offered it as a comparison for what is available in the market -- match seemed quite close, with full carbon vs full wood (as noted, wood is a minority preference vs carbon), same color + added advantage of navigation in the '01, but a year older with one more year's mileage at the same low rate, which would point to $50M (or a bit more) being today's realistic market price for your car if you want to move it in the near term.

It is, of course, a terrible seller's market (and consequently a great buyer's market), so if a buyer doesn't come along at a price you are willing to accept, then keep the car and enjoy it in the interim [I agree with the other posters that prices are unlikely to come up with the passage of time, as the car continues to get older] -- 10,000 additional miles or so likely won't change the price much and it's a beautiful machine.

M, of course, means thousands [Roman numeral] -- MM means million [thousand thousand] -- common financial shorthand!

"Low mileage is highly overated, especially by novice buyers. If I was in the mkt for a used 996TT, I 'd buy one that's driven at least 10k miles a year. The motor as many have experienced is "bullet-proof" and regular usage keeps all the seals and moving parts in reasonable shape."

A 7-8 year old car with only 7k miles??? Who knows which gremlins show up when the pedal it's the metal.

WHAT HE SAID!!
