Need to drive it more! Heat it up real good and get all the moisture out of it! I think I heard it called an Italian tune up?

It's important to run the engine long enough to cook off the moisture, which is a by-product of the combustion process. It the water is condensing on your oilcap, there's a good chance it will be condensing on other, more expensive parts (camshafts, crank, etc) when they cool down.

I have had this on some of my cars and I never took short trips. I would say that for me it was normal.

Well, I usually take a 25 minute x2, %80 hwy 4 days a week (avg. speed 65+ mph) and regular driving the other 3. The car was garaged 2 weeks (long time) due to blown rear tire. Condensation from what?

Condensation from cold damp weather... Plus the engine produces water as a by-product of combustion. What kind of oil is in it? My brother used to use some kind of oil and his car did the same thing a long time ago...

My TT does not condense moisture on the cap like that, but I do get that on the '79 930. I take the cap off when I get home and let the vapor evaporate out of the oil tank, it seems to have addressed the issue.

my daily routine is to warm up the car for couple of minutes (2-3) first thing in the morning then at least let it cool down for a minute or two before turning it off...I cleaned the cap and will monitor it closely for next few weeks, almost time for an oil change...

I don't get that on my cap. I cool down for 2 minutes every time and usually wait for the RPM to drop after I turn it on (usually 10-60 seconds..), to move out.

I use the car as a DD though.....

If that were my car, I'd be at the best shop I know getting some help. It just looks very bad/wrong/expensive. I don't know what is wrong, but I'd find a guru that did. I wonder what Statman was thinking....

Are you serious about taking the cap off to let the moisture out?

I wonder if the once to twice a week high pressure water-jet car wash is to be blamed for this residue finding?
