October 2008 Texas Mile Video - 996tt in the 200mph club
This is a quick review on the 2008 October Texas Mile. Records where shattered and cars broke. Everyone that could pitch in to help did. I want to thank Ryan for donating parts to try to make my Supra run for another pass. In turn after I blew, I donated parts to Amit's car so it could make it run. Check out some Supraforums.com threads for more on this story. March will be fun because Peter's TX2K9 event which will gather the best of the best!
on another note, the 996 Porsche community is finally in the 200+mph club in the mile...

I hit a PSM issue several times at 225MPH (just before the 3/4mile marker) which kept on shutting down the car... After several runs of the same, I parked the car until we diagnosed it further.

I haven't seen a posting of all results for all vehicles. Did we of the four-wheel community finally upset the turbo 'busas?
VR,
Were you 2WD for this event and if so, what rear tires? Would an all-wheel drive attempt yield better results or would viscous and diff/axles not take the stress?

Thank you... As far as mods on her...the list is very long. I posted some brief photos and a medium boost dyno sheet on the following page:

Thanks again.

Yes my car is two wheel drive and I was running full Formula one racing slicks. The same tires that where on my Supra and the ones SW set the new record with. I had them especially made for the tarmac specifications of the runway. The main issue is that you have to get some heat in them before they are used. If you look at SW's pass when he warms them up, his car dead hooks (and actually bogged) off the line. The 996's tires didn't get sticky until the end of the mile...
