Chuck, actually I WAS one of those lemmings....got the MPS2s...thought better than the S02s,but not that great...so I got the MPSC and what a difference (when at temp)...so I thought maybe the MPS2s aren't the best. I had Yoko 008s on my 930 (best tire I have ever had any car any time) and I thought....let me try those. 008s are no longer available so I tried a different Yoko. I couldn't get the Neovas (only available in Europe for 19") so I did the Advan Sports

My point about lemmings is not very often do folks try several different brands/types of tires so they have little to go by except what others have said...so they just follow...and of course they don't want anyone to think their decision was bad so they say it is a great tire....well you get the point

My apologies to those whom I've offended by my unintended derogatory description of my fellow listers.

Cheers

Tire choice discussions are almost (not quite) as fun as oil viscosity discussions.

Just ordered a set of Sumitomo rubber for my '02--read a lot of good reviews and couldn't beat the price (<$700 for the SET on tirerack...). I'll report back if anyone's interested on how they do in the real world. Either they'll be the bargain of the century or crap (but at $700, I'll drive the crap for a few thousand miles and have learned my lesson )

My Brother put a set of Sumitomo's on his n/a C-4 and seems pretty happy with them. I'd be interested to hear your opinions after you've had them for awhile.

Interesting.
For a 2001 996TT, their online configurator comes up with MTP-91

MPT-91

Hmmm...is the 01 different than an 04? All I can say is I have the MTP-93 and it fits perfect...and is working like a charm!

AFAIK, there was no change to the battery (size, location or tray) between 01-04.

Anyone with a PET confirm this?
