I guess you are buying the VIN to put on a stolen Turbo.

I had the same question. It looks to me that it is only worth its weight as scrap metal to be recycled? What good would this do anyone in the condition it is in. I would be very curious to know why it would ever sell and what they would be wanting with it ???

Worth it to somebody peicing one together from the boneyard with a salvage title I suppose.

Take a stolen turbo. take the VIN from this mass of metal, mix with care- have a 'ready for sale turbo with salvage vin'... virtually perfect.

Since the car actually never had an accident it would pass any inspection.

One might say 'why do that, it will have a salvage title'... better salvage than stolen. If you are a scumbag...

This reminds me of a " CHIPS" episode tears ago. The thief stole a late model MB SL totally strips it of wheels, doors, seats, everything. Car is found by authorities, thief buys back title at auction and puts car back together. Nothing beats the criminal mind.

Maybe I'm just too suspicious....but I can only think of negative reasons that anyone would want that...especially with the picture of the VIN so prominently displayed.
