Good article (link was posted on 6speed). Relates to performance gains associated with LWFW.

I just put mine in with the lwfw. Actually did the entire job TWICE due to putting the ring gear in backwards. Yeah, I know... First time took an easy 12-16 hours with many issues. Bolts are soft and stripped- had to chisel them to get them started. The tape removal job with the fork was a real joy, etc. etc etc etc

The second go around took less than six hours from start to finish. It is much, much easier once you know how to do it! All this was on a lift with a tranny jack. Getting the slave back in, although not difficult technically, was a bitch as your hands are on both sides of the tranny.

Bottom line:
No difference in pedal "feel"
minimal chatter- really hard to tell until you push the clutch in and then actually notice the difference. I can hear it in my garage clearly but have not heard it yet in traffic at a light-it is that small of a sound.

Throttle response is dramatically different; much, much quicker.
Worth every penny. Kevin is good people and helped on the phone quite a bit. Thanks bro!

Dang. Now it sounds like I NEED one. So the butt dyno really notices the difference? I read the posted link on the Vette tests.

Sorry for the thread jack...

Greg/Brian at Eurosport Ltd in Englewood. They have done all of my mods since day 1. They are also going to replace drop links this time.

I overheard a conversation between my indie and a Cayman S owner about installing a LWFW. He said he didn't recommend it unless he was going to track the car because they tended to have an annoying harmonic cruising at lower RPMs.

Has anyone experienced this, or is it something unique to the Cayman. I was going to ask him about it when I pick up the car.

My UMW LWFW package is without question noisy when driving at low RPM. It rattles and sounds like a coffee can half full of marbles from launch to about 2000 RPM if not under spirited acceleration. Of course it also makes the sound when in neutral with the clutch released. I love it!.

The increased clamping force of the package I got from Kevin, and the improvement in the ability of the engine to spin up quicker, is for me well worth the noise. Adding the LWFW was like adding an additional bump in horsepower via tuning; it's that noticeable.

100% correct.

375 more break-in miles and I will really get to enjoy it.

From reading countless threads about the audibles, I was concerned, but to the extent that there is any difference in sound, I like the 'motorsports clutch' chatter.

Engagement is much better than stock, throttle response too.

375 more miles...

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I am in the process of shopping a new setup. Can you comment on your experience, now that it's been a coupe years?

ASLAN, many of these Rennlisters are still running the LWFW kit that I sold them "years" ago.. Dock, WRoss, Powdrhound is running the new 4.0 liter clutch kit. Post what city you live in and maybe you can catch up with a Rennlister.
