RG5 Monolite 19" Advice
Guys,
I purchased the car with the wheel and tire package in the pics. I would appreciate some advice on the direction to take with tire size and suspension. I noticed others in the forum with the same type of wheel.Attachment 233826
Attachment 233827
To my untrained eye, the 295/30/19's on the back look a little narrow for the rim. Also the car appears to be riding too high.
I measured the rim width from inside the wheel and it is either 11 or 11.5" depending if you go to the true outer lip. The tire on the inside edge just misses the plastic on the wheel well by maybe 10mm.
What size tire can I go to without major mods and will I have issues if I also drop the suspension 1 ". The existing pirellis won't last long
Thanks

You could go to 315/25-19 then you would want 235/35-19 for the front. As far as dropping, what kind of driving do you do...the choices span the spectrum from just doing H&R springs to PSS9 coilovers to Motons.

Hi Statman,
The car is a daily driver so I appreciate ground clearance, occasional track time, I have 235/35/19's on the front. The car appears to be artificially high right now (some bad pills!).
A local shop mentioned I may have to "roll" the arches to fit 315's? I can probably modify the plastic inside the well myself. 315's will oper up a whole lot of tire choices.

Ok Guys past the hypothetical, my current P-zeros are almost slick on half now (call me sick, but that excites some primeval part of me!). I need to order tires & I know the car better now. It's my DD occasional track use, no suspension mods (yet).
- With the current 295/30-19 (P-zero) I know the gearing is off, and (here's the rub!) I have rubbing at the lower fender liner (there appears about 5mm clearance until spring is decompressed). On the passenger side I can modify the brackets to pull the liner away. On the drivers side the liner is hard up against the turbo piping. What do I do here? The wheel appears to be at least 11" wide
- Choices to restore correct diameter;
305/25-19 (P-zero appears to be the only one on the mkt this size). I'll have more width to deal with but the lower profile may give more clearance
315/25-19 much more choices but more rubber meat to deal with.
Either way I need to deal with the fender liner, where I need the most help. The tires are wearing on the inside half, I'm concerned any more camber for a street car probably won't make sense. The fronts are currently 235/35-19 and have plenty meat left.
All viewpoints appreciated!

Just avoid all the issues... give me the wheels and let me worry about that problem. LOL
Car looks great!! I would go with the 315. Might want to check with the folks here to see if your offset is the same.

Normally there will be a sticker somewhere or a marking on the wheel somewhere showing the offset and width. You can get 315's in a dropped car without rubbing and rolling the fenders but it is close. I have 12" rears now (different wheels from you of course) on mine with 315's, the fenders are rolled but was unnecessay. I have the slightest touch (rubbing) on the inner fender liner but that will go away when my new spacers arrive, with space left on the outside to avoid rubbing there. My current offset with 12's is 51mm, I will be going out (decreasing the offset) to 47mm. Offset is pretty easy to measure. It is the distance from the hub to the center of the hoop (the barrel where the tyre is mounted, ie the center of the tire). Stock I think is 43-44mm on the rears (11" rim with 295's).

Danyol, I'd go 315's at the back. Shouldn't need to fender roll for those. And then some coilovers to drop it. The true benefit of the coilovers is the transformation in handling! The lowered look is just a beneficial sidebar. Just do it!! I'm running FVD PSS9's as well. (avatar pic, if you can even tell, is pre coilovers)

Offset Calculator. Can be pretty useful if you're getting new wheels. http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp
